Question regarding "people" and syncing (battery life)

I have set up my people feed, which is pretty impressive. Originally I did the google sync and brought all my contacts in. On the pre I never synced facebook because it brought everyone in my phone that I didn't want. So now with the EVO I was able to sync each one individually with facebook. My one concern with this is how much of a battery killer will it be with most of my contacts synced with facebook? I just don't want my phone constantly pulling from facebook. Anybody have a clear understanding of how this works? Is it similar to google in that its not always syncing unless there is a change on the server or on the phone? Thanks for the help, so far so good with the phone. Pretty amazing device.

If you go to settings > accounts & sync > and click on the Facebook for HTC Sense account, you'll see an option for Account Settings. Click on that and you'll see that it's configured to sync every 2 hours. You can change it by clicking on it.
