OK i need some help, my friend is selling me his xoom at a very cheap price almost new, but its the Verizon wireless one. Do i need a data plan to use it or can i just use wifi from the get go?

Yes it will work from the get go on wifi.

U can use wifi only, but if ur friend bought it on contract he may be expecting to transfer that over to you and that's why its so cheap, in that case u would pay for data. If no contract then ur good to go.

Make sure even though it's off contract that he doesn't have data on it. It's a quick and easy phone call to cancel, but just to make sure.
