Questions about the Extended Battery

I just got the 2100 mAh extended battery, through Amazon, and I have issues with it. Not the battery itself, but the back cover.

As far as I can tell, the back cover that they sent was exactly the same as the one that comes stock with the phone. It doesn't seem to fit quite right with the larger battery, either, as it doesn't latch down right.

Is this normal? Should I just suck it up, stick in the case, and see if the back cover starts to mold to fit it? Or should I contact the seller?

I use the extended battery ordered from Verizon and it fits perfectly. I was worried it wouldn't work but it does with no issues. I would definitely contact the seller.

How hard was it to put the cover on? perhaps I'm just not pushing on it hard enough? I don't want to break it, and I'm certainly not being particularly gentle right now, but if it is particularly difficult to put on I might put a little more muscle in to it ;)

I have the Verizon extended battery too, and if the cover is lined up right it shouldn't be any harder to snap into place than the regular one.

not hard to put on, you just press all along the edges. I wonder if they gave you the wrong back cover,. hard to believe if it's OEM. The diff bet. the two backs is very subtle, but it is different.

Is it visible? I'm looking at them right now, and I can't tell a difference.

Also, I just tried pushing on it, and it went in a little better, but still not quite right. I pushed on it until I became worried the screen might crack, so I'm not really going to be doing much more on it.

What a timely topic as I just picked up the 2100 battery tonight. There is a visual difference between the two backs on the inside. If yours is identical to the stock cover then I think you have the wrong one.

I just put my battery in and the cover snapped right on.

There is a slight difference in appearance between the two covers. The extended batter cover has a slight curved shape while the stock cover has an obvious taper. I don't have it in front of me, but if I remember correctly it almost seems like a dimple.

Alright, I'm gonna contact the seller. It's strange, because it was an OEM product.

I got the stock battery cover to fit on better, and I use it with a case that covers the back anyways, so it's mostly just on principle at the moment.

I guess that's what I get for being lazy and trying to save a trip to the VZW store :p

The back should smooth whereas the stock back has a bump on the bottom. Does yours have this?

I tried to use the cover that came with the extended battery and it never fit right. The stock cover is a little snug but works much better.

Make sure that you put in the clips along the bottom edge first. If you don't. then the bottom ones never pop into place properly, causing them to bend inward slightly and need to be pulled back out to the proper position. I was returning, what I thought to be, a defective extended battery back, and the VZW rep showed me what I was doing wrong and pulled the tabs back out into the proper position. No damage done to them, and no problems since.

The stock cover doesn't fit with the 2100, i have 4 1850 batteries the 2100 and a much larger extended, can't remember the mah on it right now, but that takes a much larger back. I don't have a back for the 2100 unfortunately...

If it seems like one of the top latches isn't snapping in all the way, I had the same thing. Mine was directly from verizon. What I did was instead of starting at the bottom and latching up, I started at the top then bent the cover slightly so that the latches at the bottom would go in. Then I latched the sides. Looks perfect now.
