Should I factory reset my Nexus 5 before I update from KitKat to Lollipop?

What is the best option to update my Nexus 5? Wi-Fi or Mobile Data

Wifi. Factory reset AFTER updating.

^^^Wifi, eh? With previous software updates, Android and WP, I've always been commanded to connect to wifi. With L, I wasn't. Since my wifi is poor, I was happy to download it over mobile data....but I wonder whether that's why I've had problems with photo-editing, and whether it may have caused other problems?

What's the reason for the hard reset after the update?

Pretty much the same as a clean install on your computer. It cleans out legacy files. I had a Kindle that download with 3G and a Kindle that was WiFi-only. WiFi was faster. It didn't take long for the Android 5 update to get downloaded. Most of the time was installing and factory reset.
