So, I'm in a tough situation. I tried the Nexus, but ended up going through 3 of them. 1 had terrible banding, the 2nd had the keypad burned into the display, and the 3rd had 3 black pixels dead on the screen. Keep in mind, this was all within 4 days and I had to send them to VZW through FedEx since I can't get to a store.

I've been now between the Maxx and Rezound, but my company is giving me a Droid 4, so I'm going to hold off on the Maxx.

There are a few issues that I've been reading about on the Rezound I wanted to get cleared up.

1. I've been seeing from multiple forums on the net that dead pixels are a big issue with this phone. Most people say it's 50/50 on getting a display with dead pixels. Curious to see if this holds up.

2. Overheating is another big one. Have many people really seen this, or is this isolated?

3. Battery life after recent OTA. Does that VLA app ruin this phone entirely?

At the end of the day, I carry 2 devices at almost all times. The Droid 4 will be my phone while the Rezound would be my everything else.

Sorry for the long post, I just need to make a decision soon. My work phone won't come in for another week and my personal phone is the HTC Trophy...Windows Phone 7.5. Yeah, I need to get back to Android ASAP.

I have am using a certified like new rezound and installed the update with battery draining being the only issue. But looking at whats using the power, its the timeout screen or display which is causing that and I do have it set for 30 seconds until times out and auto adjust brightness though. The VLR may have something to do with that but I cant say for sure.

Never had missing pixels and the warmth has been no more or less than any other phone I have used and for a good period of time. I came from a Droid Bionic and it got a little warmer and had more issues than Rezound.

The proble I have with the VLA is that it does always run and that there is no option I have tried after reading about that can kill it other than rooting. Also it wasnt expected and theres enough of their crap on the phone as is. Otherwise its a great phone and would suggest giving it a try. I have read also that people phones have reacted differently so mine may be a unique case. I say go for it.

thats good to hear...my MAIN concern is the deal pixels...all 3 Nexus phones had screen issues, i don't want this to carry over to another phone

The pixel issue is new to me and I have read a lot as well. I will have to look closer at them and check that out. What forums do you read? I read these,Phandroid, HTC's and Verizons. This and the second one I mentioned offer solutions by a lot die hard folks who seem to know their stuff and I have learned a lot from them both. Havent really been on any others that seem credible but am looking.

Anyway, good luck with the phone if you do go with it and just keep at the researching. Honestly hands on is really the only way to know if you'll have any issues. but this is the next best thing IMO. Take care

For me the phone has been awesome so far.Every once in a while it gets hot but not so bad that I'm concerned.I've never heard of the pixel issue though.

I have 4 rezounds in the house now. No pixel problems. No overheat problems unless you leave the rubber case on if you are playing games for long periods while charging. Battery life is exceptional if comparing battery size to other 4g phones. Best all around phone on verizon.

Never heard of the dead pixel issue, though it is an LCD, so could happen (though with the high pixel density, if you could actually pick out one dead pixel, you've got some Kryptonian eyeballs in your head).

As for overheating, as I said in a previous post, I played with two different Rezounds, in store, for between 10 and 25 minutes each over 4G, and both got noticeably warm. Alarmingly so? No, but if you do so long-stretches of gaming or using 4g data, I could see it becoming an issue (the constant heat swings can't be good for the phone).

it's been posted before, i had one with a stuck/hot pixel. the replacement was okay (in regard to the pixels, but was replaced for other issues). Third phone didn't have dead pixel issues either.

thanks for the info guys...this is where i found all of these issues

its good to hear that all of you are loving the phone, makes me feel better in ordering one.

as for my case choice, i only use otterbox cases...so ill just be careful and i'll make a decision within the next day or 2...thanks everyone!

Some people have had a problem with the Otterbox cases and overheating because they don't allow for much heat dissipation. This is my second Rezound, neither this one, or the first one had any pixel problems. I downloaded a pixel checker just to be sure.

Mine has gotten up to 120 to 126 degrees while plugged into the charger and streaming a movie over 4G. At 126 the red and green led's started alternately flashing to warn me and I shut it down to cool off.

I think HTC has always used undersized batteries in their smart phones and considering the Rezound has a 1.5G, dual-core processor and a 720p HD screen, I think they needed a larger standard battery in it also. Battery life will depend on usage, settings and what you have running in the background. Everyone gets different results and I've seen reports from 4 hours to over 12, but I doubt if my phone would make it through my 12 hour work day on the standard battery without charging, so I use an extended battery in case I can't be someplace where I can plug it in. I think some people reporting longer times may also be using rooted phones.

My network connection is great and the GPS is fast and possibly the most accurate I've used. The Rezound is the best phone I've owned, but it can be hit and miss, so be prepared to take advantage of your 14 day trial period and exchange it as often as necessary to get a good one.

Considering what the newer smart phones do and the fact that they use increasingly high power, high tech components, crammed into tiny enclosed areas while using the same old battery technology, I don't really have high expectations for battery life, or expect it to stay cool all of the time.

My Rezound doesn't have any dead pixels. I haven't experienced overheating, though I'm primarily using the extended battery and I've read the overheating problem seems related to the standard battery. However, I didn't have any overheating when I did use the standard battery.

Haven't had the battery drain issue either, but my phone has not been updated.
