Questions on purchasing Pixel 2 from Reseller

I have the opportunity to pick up an unopened Pixel 2 at a discount from someone who received it as a gift but wants an Iphone. This would be a face to face transaction, but I have a couple of questions that I'm uncertain about.

1) Does Google warranty unopened devices that were not explicitly purchased from them?
2) The seller posted their IMEI publicly in the ad (the IMEI comes back clean from checking online sites); I know this is something that you should not do, but is it a deal breaker that the IMEI has been publicly posted?

Any other factors I should take into consideration when thinking about purchasing from reseller? We will meet at a phone store and I will test my SIM card.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rick

1. Google will transfer the warranty to you once you sign in on the device.
2. IMEI is always a bit tricky.

Get there buyer to take the IMEI taken down so no more people can have access to it. It should still be warranted by Google. There isn't any reason for Google to not accept it should it need to be repaired.

Thanks Worldspy. Good to know warranty should still be in place. I did cringe a little when I saw she posted a picture of the box with all details on the phone including the IMEI in the ad.

Yes, requesting that ASAP.

Make sure it is sealed. If the seal is broken, please use the Swappa guide for checking out a phone thoroughly before you leave the meetup location and before you hand the cash over.
Good luck.

BTW, I got my Pixel 2 from someone else as well for a bargain and am loving it.

I would contact Google to be sure

Ask yourself this question. have you ever in your life received a gift worth $700 that wasn't a car for graduation, or an extravagant xmas or anniversary gift? Im gonna say no. So don't believe all these people who say they got it as a gift. Its more than likely someone who either stole it, or has it financed and is looking to make a quick buck.
