Okay -- I understand what root access is. What I don't understand is this:
When/if I root my Droid, is this just patching my existing ROM to allow root access, or is it totally replacing my stock ROM and replacing it with one that allows root access?
Secondly, if it turns out that rooting only requires patching the existing ROM, can I overclock with an application like SetCPU with just rooting, or do I need to load a custom ROM to do this?
Thanks in advance for helping a noob out. I did a search and did not find these exact answers.
I would like to overclock, but really don't want to load any cutom ROM's yet.
