I love my new Note 8. This is my first time using an android phone in a while. I looked for this answer here and other sites but could not find a definitive response.

I would like to use a third-party mail app because Samsung Mail does not have a dark theme, which is an issue due to eye problems. If I remove the Exchange account I set up through the initial setup and just install with the third-party app, e.g. Nine, will my contacts and appointments be available for syncing via Bluetooth with my car.

Put another way, I think the Exchange Account needs to be set up through the main account process rather than the ones provided by the 3rd party app, but trying to avoid reseting my phone to find out. (Just got it organized the way I like it.)

Thanks.

A 3rd party email app should simply pick up the contacts that you have already configured. I use TypeApp and I never had to do anything special to have it pick up the contacts. Also it doesn't affect the contact information shared with my car.

Your Exchange contacts and emails should be saved on your work server so it doesn't matter what app you use. Your data will be populated once you login to account on the 3rd party app. Nine populated all my data and I never set up the Samsung email account.

Perfect. Thanks, that's what I needed to know.

Yes I think it was the note 2 that had an option of a black theme. I use aquamail it's very good and you can change colors. It's a shame that when you change themes it doesn't carry over to the email app
