Questoin about Upgrading @ the store....

A buddy of mine has an upgrade available on his line.

Can him and I walk into a store together, he pays for the phone at the upgrade price and not activate it in the store?

He hands over the phone to me and I activate it on my line (for the 1st time)?

Will VZ store reps allows us to do that?
 
Dont think so. It will need to be linked to his plan.

I believe it will need to be on his plan to start. I sold my bionic a month or after using an upgrade on it, the person had no issue activating it on their line. So I am not sure how long he needs it on or if he can remove from his line when he gets home and give it to you

Hey I know how this process can work (employee). He will take the upgrade, ask to get the phone, and then activate it on his line. He will then have to switch the phone back to his previous phone. If he didn't have 4G before his 4G sim(recently purchased with the phone) will go bad. He must then buy another 4G sim for you and then you can activate it on your line. You will have no warranty for the phone as a result and are not applicable for asurion insurance.
 
Just go to the store and try it.

It is just like buying a phone off ebay and activating it.

If a really ignorant rep tries to help him he could be stuck for hours with 0 results and then walk out with nothing. My method is tried and tested 100% successful. This also spells out the risks to phone warranty etc etc. The company will hold him to those rules if he chooses to get his phone with this method.
