'Quick' Bloatware

The damn quick remote keeps popping up asking to add a new remote. I'd like to get rid of it. Permanently. But the bastards at LG have greyed out the disable button. Also for email, weather, some other 'quick' apps, and "font server" whatever the hell it does.

Is rooting the only option? Or is there any app that'll allow me to freeze/uninstall them without rooting? Or any other way to deal with this issue for this model?

Looking into it further, it's the widget that appears when unlocking the screen. Even if I remove the widget, it reappears. Annoying as ****.

Guess I might root the damn thing afterall.
