Quick Charge 3.0?

What wireless carrier is your G5 labeled under? So far, users in this thread have reported that G5's released in the U.S. by T-Mobile and AT&T are operating as expected with respect to Quick Charge 3.0 operation & compatibility. G5's by Verizon are the only phones affected to date. I'm hoping to hear 3.0 compatibliby & operating reports from other Verizon users.

I still don't understand why a carrier should have influence over 3.0 compatibility

I don't either, which is why I'm looking to hear from others. All I know is that the Verizon G5's I've tested don't work, yet a T-Mobile G5 worked with the same chargers... Something's up...

Disappointed... Just received an OTA update for the G5 through Verizon, and it did not resolve the 3.0 charging issue...

I don't think it was intended to. I guess the only solution is to ask LG

Just a quick update. I went ahead ordered a replacement device from Verizon - just on the hope that maybe this was an issue affecting early released devices. The replacement G5 exhibited the same issue. I understand that Verizon engineering has confirmed and is now working on this issue, hopefully with priority, but they do not yet have a time table for the resolution. It was also mentioned during my discussion with Verizon that this boils down to LG, and how they prepared and delivered G5 units to Verizon (just like Mike Dee1 eluded to above).

The findings in this thread remain upheld: Verizon G5's are currently NOT compatible with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 chargers.

I have a Verizon LG G5 (purchased on pre-order back in March)

I am using this charger: Anker Quick Charge 3.0, USB Type-C & PowerIQ, Anker 24W USB Wall Charger PowerPort+ 1 USB-C with Quick Charge 3.0

It says "Fast Charging" the entire time it is plugged in. (When I swipe down the notification, and on the lock screen)

Is this helpful? It does charge pretty fast. It went from 43% to 78% in 23 minutes, for example.
Right now, it is at 75% and it tells me it will take 21 minutes to be at full.

Odd....POBrien is using that one and it didn't work.....or at least I think it's that one

It's a little confusing... POBrien is using "ANKER PowerPort 2 with Quick Charge 3.0"
Although, when I go to ANKER's product page, they have:
PowerPort+ 1 with quick charge 3.0
PowerPort+ 1 with quick charge 2.0
PowerPort+ 1 (USB-C) with quick charge 3.0 (that's what I have)
PowerPort+ 3 with quick charge 3.0
PowerPort+ 3 with quick charge 2.0
PowerPort+ 6 with quick charge 2.0

I think that's all for quick charge. PowerPort 2 doesn't support quick charge at all.

I use a Tronsmart QC 3.0 wall charger with my Sprint G5, and it works great. My phone shows "fast charging" for the duration of the charge.

There seems to be no concern except Verizon units

The stock charger also maintains "fast charge" on my Verizon LG G5. I can't say whether it is faster/slower than the Anker charger.

This is quite surprising - Thank you for sharing this! Is that the only 3.0 charger you have?

These are the 3.0 chargers I have tested my Verizon G5 with and found NOT to work with 2 other Verizon phones.
1. Anker Power Port 2.0
2. Aukey Dual Port Car Charger
3. Tronsmart WC1T

I'm charging the (Verizon) LG G5 on the Anker PowerPort+1
Using the Ampere app, I get varied results. For a while it settled at 1030 mA
but now, it seems to want to top out at 570 mA.
It always says "Fast Charging."
If I unplug the device, it discharges between 270-530 mA, with the screen on.

I don't know if any of this is helpful.

Here's a highly scientific :p experiment I did this morning:
This is a Verizon LG G5 phone Model VS987. It was around 50-60% charged. Using the Ampere app.
When not plugged in, screen on, it appears to be discharging at around 300 to 400 mA.

At home, using Anker PowerPort+ 1 USB-C Wall Charger,
the phone was charging consistently at 970 mA. It said "Fast Charging."

On the same outlet, using the Stock LG charger that came with the LG G5 from Verizon,
the phone was charging consistently at 970 mA. It said "Fast Charging."

On the way to work, using Vinsic USB Type C Car Charger Adapter
and the Rankie USB Type C to Type C Cable
the phone was charging consistently at 970 mA. It said just "Charging."

At the office, using a second Anker PowerPort+ 1 USB-C Wall Charger
the phone was charging consistently at 970 mA. It said "Fast Charging."

At the office, using an LG branded USB-C charger that came with a Nexus 5X (not labeled Fast-charging)
the phone was charging consistently at 970 mA. It said just "Charging."
