Hey guys, Seemingly one of the reasons the htc one takes a long time to charge is because htc did away with quick charge, Does anyone know if this can be "activated" in some way?? Iam assuming it can't be but it would be awesome if it could and would make a lot of people happy :)

I asked this too. It's supposed to be with the Snapdragon 600 but HTC did away with it for some reason I'm not sure. I surely hope it gets unlocked in an update.

As far as I know One's slow charging cycle is supposed to add to longevity of the battery which is important because the battery can't be replaced.

I read an article stating that it was disabled to prolong the life of the battery since it is not user replaceable. Not sure whether or not that's true. Typically somebody will make a custom kernel to enable things like this. I haven't been over on XDA lately since I've yet to find a reason to need root with this phone so I'm not sure if somebody over there has already started working on kernels.

^^ although it's nice that they're trying to prolong the battery life, it sucks that we can't have that as an option. I for one, think that the Quick Charge will be more useful to me that the longevity. I don't plan to use my phone for longer than 2-3 years, so the longevity shouldn't really affect me much (unless the Quick Charge kills my battery in a year).

Same here, i usually change my phone every year ha And i would of thought batteries have pretty decent longevity anyway, Its not a big deal anyway because i usually and iam sure most users do charge the phone over night but its in times when your battery is low and you only have an hour to spare that it would come in handy

Just a 25% bump in speed would do, I'd like it to charge quicker than using it whilst playing though hdmi to my telly!

Sent from my awesome HTC One B-)

Having diminished battery capacity after a year of use is not uncommon.
I'd rather HTC does anything in it's power to make sure I don't have to scrabble for a new phone after a year.
