To my surprise the Motorola version that they installed on the X (Android 2.2) allows you to open/create and edit. I thought only the paid version could edit? At least that's what the site says. I was going to spend the $10 on it, but the stock version allows for editing... Any point now to even bother with the paid version?

Ya. This is free with the 2.2. It appears to be a limited version of the Docs to Go app. Depends on how you you need to use it and if you tie it into Windows programs on your computer. Pretty nice app provided without charge, thanks to the Froyo 2.2 update. But limited.
