Radios suck

OK, copied over to my phone from my Mac using Android File Transfer. (Helps when one can properly talk to your GN). Rebooted to recovery mode and "installed" the 4.0.2 to 4.0.4 radio upgrade zip.
Now I have Baseband I515.10 V.FA02 / I515.FA02 :D

I will run on this for a while and see if I can't get respectable signal strength so I don't have to switch to the RAZR Maxx (nice phone, but I like the GN with ICS). We'll see how it goes!!!

we get it, the radios suck. get a different phone, or live with the problem. sorry but it has to be said.

Lol, it's a smartphone and the "radios" are critical to the device being anything more than a paperweight. Is "we get it, the radios suck. get a different phone or live with the problem" really the best solution to this issue? How about..."we know the radios suck and we all should beat down the doors of Verizon until they fix them".

People paid hundreds of dollars for this "Radio" and telling people to load unapproved software that will void the warranty, live with the problem or spend hundreds of more dollars to buy another device is BS from all of you that keep dishing this advice out.

We should all get pissed off and hold Verizon accountable for fixing the "radios suck" issues with this device and not be satisfied and live with a device that is substandard.

*renders the warranty voidable at the election of Verizon

If you don't like the advice, then why bother?

I'm curious how the Sprint version will compare to the Verizon build.
LBTRS, I understand your frustration. I have it too. I have until the end of April to decide between the Maxx and the GN. My frustration is with Samsung AND Google. This is a "premiere" device, but there is a total lack of accessories and updates, but yet, I soldier on because I really like ICS and the ease of unlock/root with the Nexus. One can always re-lock and un-root to address warranty issues if I'm not mistaken.
In my opinion, the Maxx and GN are in different leagues. The Maxx is for those who simply want a phone that works and the GN is for those who love to tinker and live with the challenge of making it a better phone. I think that is why I am still hanging on to mine until I am forced to choose. I am hoping the new radio flash, combined with CM9 will make it a keeper... At the end of the day, Samsung should really be ashamed at the initial product offering. As long as they don't give up on it (which I doubt now that Sprint is jumping on), then I'll be OK tweaking it often...

OK, hafta report back. I made a phone call tonight on the new ROM and radios and I was disconnected three times. I had to turn the mobile network mode to CDMA only and then I was OK. So... looks like the updates did not help my situation at all. I may have Amazon swap this one out, but it is tough call... I'll call them and see. Course I'll have to unroot and all... Pain in my aspergrass....... :-\ (Hence the constant tug of war with the GN and the Maxx)

Edit: Maybe I will try a sim card swapout too...
