clear data messages not coming back

hello all i have a bit of a problem if i clear all data on my phone all my messages will not come back I have backup on but I have to uninstall updates the install the recent update to get them back anyway to fix this so I don't have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling the recent update

When you say clear all Data is this from the message app? Which message app are you using?

Clearing data on Google Messages wipes the local message database. Cloud backup (Google One) doesn’t always restore instantly unless the app triggers a fresh sync.

Try: Settings > Google > Backup > force a new backup, then clear data again and reopen Messages with Wi-Fi. Also disable RCS before clearing data, then re-enable it after restore. If this keeps happening, it’s likely a Google Messages restore bug reinstalling updates forces a resync, which is why it works.

Yeah sometimes resync doesn't kick in immediately.

okay doing it now will get back to you i had to update the app first

okay done exactly as you say this is what I get RCS is disabled nothing gets restored

So when you update to the new version the issue happens and going back to the old it's ok ? Sounds like a bug in the new version probably have to wait until another update comes out from that new one

i just tried to update to messages.android_20260115_05_RC00.phone_dynamic via Google play store and still get the same problem

i have not waited for resync but nothing seems to be happening

I have backups but for some reason it should load the app and then restore my messages on the new version when i clear all data but for some reason they don't show up they do show up on the old version which I am using now. i think it's a bug i did send feedback using help and feedback on the new version but haven't got anything back yet also dona review of the problem on google play store but haven't got anything back yet

it does it on my old redmi note 9s phone as well so must be a bug
