I'm ok to flashing ROMs. But I see things about radios. What are some tips you can give me about radios? AnyRecommendations as well? I'll either be using Nils Business GingerSense or SkyRaider... Maybe CM 7

ALWAYS verify the checksum of the file. Flashing a corrupted radio file is the easiest way to brick your phone.

Unless you REALLY know exactly what your doing, I wouldn't reccomend messing with the radios. It's probably the easiest way to brick your phone.

I'll do more homework before I delve into radios I guess.

I ask because I either want a mod for sky raider that displays dBm or a radio that improves signal strength.

Can you expound on that?

An MD5 checksum is a code that can be generated by running a Checksum program against a file. The Sum itself is meaningless, however the checksum algorithm will generate the same code for a file every time. It's used to verify that the file you downloaded is not corrupt before you find out the hard way.

There are links to a couple MD calculators in the ROM's and Mods HQ OP. The process is simple, download the file to your PC, run the MD5 program and point it to the file. It will give you the checksum and you can compare it to what has been posted by the person who hosted the file. If it matches it's good if not re-download.

Flashing a radio is not any harder than flashing a ROM, It's just that the consequences of doing it wrong are much higher... read Brick.

hello, sorry for pumping, but they posted the official GB radio over on XDA, and was just wondering, the md5 is verified and is good, i have the file on my sd card, should i try and flashing it?, or since it is my first radio to flash, don't even think about it?

I went back and forth about that as well but thanks to the tips from Stig, I checked the MD5 and flashed the official GB radio on yesterday. Don't necessarily notice a difference but I flashed it.

I put a link to a thread on XDA with the Radio in the ROM's and Mod's HQ2 site, and I know that the MD5 for that is good.

I also downloaded the GB radio, but it won't flash. HBOOT recognizes the update, but then does nothing. any ideas?

Checking the MD5 sum is one of the few things I use Astro file manager for .For me it shows it easiest .
When in astro just long press on the Rom/ or the radio or whatever MD5 sum your wanting to check.
A box pops up >then click on details and after a few seconds the MD5 sum shows.

I havent ever changed the radio tho ,because for me if anything ever went wrong that would be the one that did haha

I've been rinning 07.07 for about a week. GPS seems to me a little more accurate.
