RAM question

Why does my phone only show 784 MB of available ram? Is there any way to get closer to a full gb of available ram?

If i am remembering correctly, there is a difference between free ram and total. A certain percent is used to run the os, with the balance if free ram being what you see in the about phone.

Been a long time since i saw this, so i may be remembering incorrectly.

Any device whether a phone, computer or anything else requires a certain amount of RAM to run during operation. And when other apps are opened, they will also require use of RAM. So the more apps running, the less available RAM.

And I'm a total noob here on this forum, but I know the basics.
