random reboots

So my at&t N1has recently decided to start rebooting for no apparent reason. Its almost like it's getting too hot, then BOOM, I get the X. Usually occurs when using GPS more than anything else. Admittedly, this did start occurring more frequently after a recent unintentional gravity test so it might be a touch self induced.

Anyone have any ideas? Anyone ever send their N1 back for repairs? I'm sure I'm out of factory warranty as it was purchased in April.

Try doing a battery pull and/or a hard reset.

You can also check for app updates and/or system updates. Apps could be crashing and forcing it to restart so try the app updates first.

I've been diligent with keeping the apps updated right when they come out. I did do a battery pull this morning and found that my SD card was not fully seated. I was hoping that was it, but no dice.

I think when I get back from my vacation I'll wipe the phone and reset to factory defaults. Worth a shot I guess.

Thanks for the suggestion, any other ideas?

I had this issue, called up HTC and they sent me a new one. This one has worked flawlessly. So if it's under warrant still I'd call up HTC and get a replacement.

I had a warm phone reboot on me exactly once. It was an ill-behaving wardriving app, that would not shut down by itself even with the sleeping. It kept running the 3G pulling mapping data and the GPS. Even when I closed the app. Had to use settings to kill it, but only figured that out after it caused a reboot.

I used to get tons of reboots on my Moto Milestone, but I've never had any on my N1. Have you recently installed any apps that might be causing the reboots?

My N1 was having the problem of shutting down for no reason awhile back. I called tech support and they told me to reset it to factory settings. It fixed my problem. There are two ways to do it:

If it's frozen:
1. Turn the phone off. If it’s frozen in the on state, pull the battery.
2. Press and hold both the Home and Back buttons simultaneously.
3. While continuing to hold the buttons, press the Power button.
4. Release Home and Back.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the hard reset.

Alternate way is:

1. Go to Settings
2. Privacy
3. Factory data reset

Doing the reset did not work for me. I did do the reset and it even crashed before my Google account was setup! It even got stuck in a loop to where I needed to pull the battery.

I actually just bit the bullet and sent it in to HTC for repairs. They tell me he mainoboard needed to be replaced. I should be getting the phone back soon to see if the issues persist.
