Have this on my 10 pro xl, can happen at any time, reading a book, you tube, anything.Usually have screen brightness around 85% then screen will suddenly dim but brightness percentage level remains the same. Checked the usual adaptive brightness etc but I haven't changed any settings... Anyone else have this?

Do you have your Colors option set to Adaptive or Natural? If it's Adaptive, what happens if you change to Natural?

This happens all the time. It's automatic. I hate it so much but there is no way to fix it. Its to prevent screen burn in or overload.

fwiw:
could it be in settings, how long screen stays on??

never to 10 min on my s25+!!

Yep, checked my kindle app but it's set to manual.. It just happens at any time though not just reading...
Try the other suggestions but don't rule out that app , I've seen in past people running into this issue with those types of apps.

Think this may have helped, changed to natural from adaptive in colours option and have had no random dimming since. This may be a bug that will be sorted in an update, didn't have this problem with my 9 Pro Xl set to adaptive.. Thanks Mr B D...

Great, I hope it doesn't come back! Definitely send feedback to Google about this from within the system settings.

I turned adaptive tone in settings. Still dimming. And everything in this video. So it is automatically unfortunately.

On my Pixel 9 Pro XL, it's Settings>Display & Touch>Colors. It might be different on phones from other manufacturers (if it's indeed an option there) -- you can always search the system settings for "Colors".

I have a Pixel 10 pro. Same thing. But extra dim feature was removed as a toggle and moved to the brightness slider.
