Random shutdowns

Not entirely true. My wife and I got our phones together and her's has been fine all along. Would swapping it out with another phone give you another 30 days on the new one?

I got mine on Black Friday (from Radio Shack for free with a two year contract extension) and it shut down three times the next day. It has shut down intermittently about six more times since. Seems to shut down most frequently right after I turn it on in the morning with either a full charge or 70%+. Using Captivate Keep Alive which hasn't stopped the shut downs. I am waiting for my local Radio Shack to get another phone for me. I got the last one they had and the second from last one went to a friend of the store manager who hasn't had any problems.

I upgraded from an HTC Fuze (WM 6.1) and am otherwise absolutely thrilled with the Captivate. I spent a lot of time researching this phone and Android vs. Windows 7 and am glad I chose it.

Haven't had any GPS problems, can't get Kies to synch my Outlook contacts & calender but need to experiment with it more. Deja Office from the App Store (free) in conjunction with Companion Link installed on my PC synched Outlook but I'd prefer not to pay $40 for the Companion Link.

Overall I love my new Captivate.

update: got a new phone four days ago and no more random shutdowns, the new phone already had the update installed, the first one didn't, GPS seems to work fine too.

fyi, assuming you have a gmail account (which automatically syncs with your phone), you can sync outlook with 2 free programs:

Google Calendar sync
Go Contact sync

Samsung i897 AT&T Firmware 2.1-Update1

Today My phone was shutting down after idle time of 2-3 minutes. It did it 7 times and I got annoyed. Called AT&T and they recommended to return it.
This is just 3 weeks old phone. No new updates are available. Very few apps. Now No Apps except CPUTuner and market itself.

exchange your phone

My first Captivate worked completely except for shutting itself down usually after I turned it on in the morning. It would shutdown 2-3 times by itself over the next three hours or so. I wasn't using it so I had no way to know how quickly it was shutting down.

If you read every post on this thread you will understand it is the phone itself (i.e. defective phone).

Since I got my replacement it hasn't shut down once.

Exchange your phone.

BTW, my first phone had an update available, my second did not.

You definitely need a new phone.
