Random texts being sent to random people?!?

Does anyone else have this happen? I'll be texting someone, just having a conversation back and forth, and sometimes out of nowhere one text will be sent to a random person in my address book. It's incredibly annoying. I've went into the options, cleared data, forced stop messages, deleted all the texts...it still eventually comes back. Any ideas?

I believe this has been a known problem with android. It was supposed to be fixed with gingerbread. But until that update comes, u can try using a different messaging client. For example: u can use handscent or go SMS.

I think its just a Android 2.2 Issue. Try upgrading to 2.3 (Custom ROM) and the issue should go away.

I've been using chomp for a long time, but it's been really buggy lately, and am worried that the random text bug will appear on it. I know go sms is very popular. Does anyone know if this problem has shown up on go sms, or not?

I had it happen a few random times. For the people on smartphones I text a lot I just ask them to download kik. It's not ideal but it's better than important texts going to the wrong people.

Thanks everyone. So dumb that we'd have to download a text app. Seems like something that should have the kinks worked out by now.

I broke down I got handcent. I noticed that this happened anytime the default message app would lag. I happened far to often though. Now I have had handcent for a week and not had it happen once. I hear go sms is also good ad well.

The way the bug works i THINK is it may randomly send a text you send to other active conversations you have in your messenger app. I read into this a lot because my accidental random text happened to be very er... sensitive and it got sent to the girl i was trying to date.

Just frequently delete all messages on your app and you reduce the chance this happens i believe. Or root and put gbread on your phone

I have this is issue. I like Go SMS, but it didn't fix it. Just keep each text conversation under 100 texts. It has worked for me.
