Randomly disappearing texts

Hello all! Can anyone explain why some of my texts have randomly disappeared off my Pixel phone? The texts were there earlier today and now just certain ones are gone from different contacts/threads. Even ones from a couple of days or even hours ago are gone. Not sure what’s happening. Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to stop this or recover the ones that disappeared?

Also, I tried using the vzw Message+ app for messages and I'm wondering if there's a way to sync or import messages from the default message app (Android Message?) that I was using. The lag on that particular app is ridiculous so I thought I'd try message + however for some reason not all of my message threads are showing up in message plus as they were on the default app. When I set my phone up everything transferred over fine but when I open message + there a quite a few threads missing. So out of frustration I switched back and now some texts have randomly disappeared. Can this be fixed? Can I recover the missing texts? I just recently switched from an iPhone and I’m tempted to go back bc there seem to be so many glitches with this and the notification dots.

I'm not sure what to tell you - I can switch between the Verizon Message+ and stock Android Messages apps and all of my current messages are shown in both apps without having to export/import anything. It's always been that way.
I do use SMS Backup & Restore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore on a somewhat regular basis just to ensure that I have a backup in case things go south but I only use the backup whenever I nuke the device.
You should check with Verizon if messaging is acting up.

Did you try to restore messages from message plus?

Thanks. I talked to someone and Verizon and they have no clue but they tried to trouble shooting and maybe it fixed the issue but it didn't restore my missing texts. I have since downloaded that app you mentioned and will hopefully not have an issue in the future.

I did try to restore through message plus and it couldn't find anything to restore. I may try some software when I get a cord that came connect to my laptop since the one that came with the phone is a USB c to USB c . Thanks for the suggestion though.
