Randomly not receiving text messages

I had this issue with my HTC Thunderbolt intermittently starting in March 2012. Now I'm starting to see this issue on my GN2. The problem is that I am missing inbound texts form different phones on multiple carriers. I've had problems at home and when traveling for work. I temporarily removed GoSMS but the issue remained. I have opened multiple tickets with Verizon T2 and have yet to find a solution. The are now telling me that the "network team" shows the messages delivered even though I am telling them that they're not. Have not had an issue with outbound texts (that I know of). I am FRUSTRATED to no end and am considering switching carriers. Anyone else had this problem?

i am on ATT&T and have the same problem. not sure it's a carrier problem.
i wonder if i inadvertantly put the two contacts i am having issue with on some list somehow? but i can't seem to find anything/where on my phone where i might find this list.
very frustrated!! as it's my husband and a close friend that i can't receive any texts from (they get mine though). at least that's all i've noticed thus far.

It's Obama listening in to you. That's my theory. Lol

For me this major issue continues. Still very random but am having the most trouble with inbound texts missing from one particular number which happens to be an iPhone 5 on Verizon. Verizon tech support doesn't want to hear from me now until I do a factory reset. How convenient.

Hmmm... This is not good. I may or my not have read that it has to do with having the same contact multiple times. For some reason I think I found a solution somewhere out there. I'll keep looking for this so if it happens to me I am ready. I know that this has happened to my wife's s3 and she just took the battery out and that fixed it. Weird... Maybe something to do with gmail backing up your contacts?

I tried everything with my Thunderbolt: root, unroot, stock message app only, GoSMS Pro, Ghostly SMS, factory resets, but the problem still remained. Bought my Note II in December and was very happy that it worked flawlessly until April when I started noticing missing texts. Now it happens about twice a month. The next step for me I guess, is a factory reset. I absolutely refuse to jump into Refurb Hell with Verizon!

I have the same issue with my stock GN2. Can't get a contacts text messages from verizon. Also my GN2 randomly won't send texts even though I have good coverage.

Old post -- but I'm just wondering if you ever got this issue resolved? I'm having the same issue and NO LUCK with Verizon.

Here is my story:

far we have:
Factory reset my phone
Replaced SIM
Replaced phone
Opened ticket with "networking team"

The networking team closed my ticket recently saying the issue was due to storms in my area (ha ha ha). I've called support many times and provided them times/dates and where messages were coming from that I didn't receive.
A few days ago, I setup a job to email my @vtext.com number every 30 minutes, it had been working just fine for 36+ hours, then this morning I stopped getting them. I sent numerous test ones from email and other phones, not getting them. So I called support (Tier II) and they also tested, I was not receiving them. Support wanted me to reboot into safe mode, I said before I did that, I'm going to to toggle airplane mode, sure enough, once I did that I had them send a test message and I got it.
Support is telling me, the system is showing my messages aren't being delivered to my phone... HOWEVER, they want me to do another factory reset and not log into any gmail account OR install any applications.
Has anyone else had this issue? And if they confirm on their end that my phone IS NOT GETTING delivery, why in the heck should I reset my phone again?
EDIT:
3 things to add:
1) When this happens, I've had it last up to 4 hours long and missed every text during that time
2) When my wife knows this is happening to my phone, she'll send me texts and then take a screenshot of her phone and send me that (MMS) and I get it.
3) I never had an issue with someone NOT getting my text.

I'm having the exact same issue, going on for months now. They replaced SIM, did a factory reset and just sent a new phone 2 days ago. New phone still has same problem. Did you have any luck resolving the issue??

Same issue here. I'm in South Florida and I got the note 8. I randomly don't receive text messages from different carriers/phones. sprint tech blames it on Hurricane Irma

I had the same issue with my ATT Note 8. I called ATT and they reprovisioned my sim over the phone. No issues since. 10 minute phone call.
