rate the hero for me...or should i wait for the evo?

How did you get the phone for $49?

Question was not directed to me but could not refrain from answering. I researched this phone from several perspectives prior to purchasing from Ebay.
Try BestBuy they still have the Sprint Hero for $49.99

I'd wait for the Evo. Like others have said the Hero's processor is not up to the task of a;; the multi-tasking the phone can do. I have a BlackBerry 9700 and it is way faster than the Hero in almost everything it does. Just the games suck on the BB and the browser blows chucks. The Evo snapdragon processor should make it as fast as any phone out there. If you just can't wait, snag one on eBay or Craigslist and save your upgrade.

I need to hold the evo in my hand and see if it's just too big or not. That 4.3" screen may be just a bit too large for me. The screen on the Hero is great, i just wish it had a faster processor and was thinner. I've rooted and have 2.1 running which makes a world of difference.

I'm in the same boat. Been waffling about the EVO for months, and finally decided that I'd rather have the Legend when it comes to Sprint. But now there seems to be no sign of that happening, so I need to experience the EVO....tried the HD2 in stores, and it just seems too huge.

The Hero CPU isn't that bad. I rooted mine and am running Fresh Rom with no sluggishness at all. It's android 1.5 and the bloat that Sprint installs on the Hero that slows it down.

the hero is pretty slow depending on which rom your running. i wanted the N1 but that's not happening now. i may be interested in the legend if sprint gets that, sharp looking phone IMO.
