Rattle noise

Hi everyone!

I have had my GS3 now for nearly 4 days and I love it! I switched over from an iPhone 4S. I really love the phone and, I think I am going to order an Android tablet too because the pair of them just would replace the need for my laptop!

Anyway, I have noticed that the phone makes a noise when I tap it, or if I shook it, and when the phone vibrates.
It sounds like the volume rocker is moving with the vibrations of the phone. I assume the noise I hear is the volume rocker? It does work which is why I don't want to return it (the hassle of that is a little off putting as I ordered it online) but my question is - is that normal for the GS3? If it isn't, I would consider returning it if the repair of the volume rocker button was not difficult.

However, more confusingly, I noticed some models in the store had the same moving volume rocker (it does wiggle) but then other Samsung phones (like the Note 2) had solid volume rockers. Is this just a quality control issue? I bought this phone SIM free so I hope it isn't going to break anytime soon! Meanwhile I use the phone in the genuine Samsung TPU case and the problem disappears!

Thanks for your advice and opinions!

What kinda noise bro.?
Id ark to tax one straight out the bx.

The noise is a rattle. Like something loose. If I hold the volume rocker and then tap, I don't hear it. Same goes for when I hold the volume rocker and enable vibrate mode.

I'd say that's a 'quality control issue', just as you've suspected. Mine doesn't do that, nor do I recall any of the store models I looked at, in several stores, having a loose and/or rattling volume rocker.

Nonetheless, even though 'the problem disappears' whilst your phone is in it's case, which at least is nice, I would personally still only consider that to be a temp. fix at best. Understand your hesitancy in sending it back for warranty work, or replacement, and 'the hassle of that being a little off putting as (you) ordered it online.' Tough call.
If it were mine, I'd probably send it back for warranty repair or replacement? especially if you still have your old phone that you could temp. use in good stead.

Mine doesn't rattle either.
It's possible the spring contacts weren't adjusted properly.

Thanks for your help guys! I have gone ahead and ordered a replacement. I will get that and then I need to send mine back (So satisfied and happy with Amazon UK support). I decided that because I bought this for a lot of money, I shouldn't settle for a disappointment in quality and the fault. And it would have really annoyed me later on especially if it got worse. I think it is the right thing to do to return it. Especially as I have had it less than a week.

I hope the replacement is better! As other than that, I absolutely love this phone. I use it for absolutely everything, and it feels so great in the hand and in the pocket. I was concerned it was going to be a massive brick in comparison to my 4S but it is perfect. I can use it one handed reasonably well, and it fits better in my slim jeans than my BlackBerry and than my 4S ever did!

Now... to order a Android tablet!

Yeah I have always been concerned about that vibration when tapped. It can even be felt with the OB Defender case on the phone.
