After my contract is up with VZW, can the XT907 be unlocked to work with US GSM pre-paid carriers?

I do not think so. Verizon back in 2012 had a thing about having GSM working fully on their devices. I mean nowadays their devices come GSM unlocked, but then it is an issue. At best you won't get 4G anywhere and you will be on 3G and no MMS.
