RAZR Maxx HD US stopped

I was using my RMHD, texting at the time when my screen went black, after about 15 seconds my app icons came back but the back ground stayed black, also no back or home or recent apps buttons.

I turned off my phone, and cleared the cache partition. It has worked fine since. My phone is stock and unrooted. Any ideas why?
