RAZR Maxx or SG3

Quality input. Thank you :D Is they anything about her Max that you wish you had on the S3?

Nothing that I've seen so far... And the USB OTG that is native on the SGS3 works amazingly well and easy, and definitely puts it above the Maxx IMHO. 500gb ext. hhd? Yes please!!!

I had a Maxx for about 3 months. Have had the S3 for 3 weeks and so far the only advatage with the Maxx is the unbelievable battery life. Everthing else the S3 wins. Battery life is better on the S3 then any other 4G phone as best I can tell. So I will be selling my Maxx, keeping my S3 and not regretting it.

Couldnt have said it better myself. I feel the same way. I loved the Maxx battery life, but when it comes to the S3, the s3 just wins! I already sold my maxx to pay off most of my s3 purchase. basically spent 30 for my s3

The Razr Maxx is the perfect phone for me. The majority of the time spent on my phone is for calls, texts, e-mails, calendars, to-do lists, and using it as a mobile hotspot. Having the phone last while tethering was definitely something important for me because if I want to watch movies or play games, I just tether the internet to my laptop or Nexus 7. I use my phone for basic phone needs, really, and have my other devices for a better visual experience.

In terms of signal, Motorola radio's are pretty beasty and I haven't had any issues with calls or data. I live around a lot of 4G LTE so I'm pretty much covered in that aspect.

With ICS, the UI is very responsive. I haven't had much, if any, lag going from screen to screen or app to app. I honestly haven't had any complaints about the display either. It looks good to me and I don't have any real problems with it.

The one thing that's lacking for me is the camera. The images aren't that great, but videos aren't too bad. There have definitely been better cameras, but again, I mostly use my phone as a phone.

Having a constant 4G LTE connection and being able to tether it to my other devices for up to three to four hours and still have enough charge for the rest of the day is something pretty special to me. You could of course get a better or external battery for the SGS3, but out of the box, the Maxx's battery is non-comparable.

This has been my experience with the Maxx. I've only had the phone for a little over a month and had the option to pre-order the SGS3, but went with the Maxx and have not regretted it one bit.

What's the USB OTG? 500 GB ext. Hhd? Thanks.

Im going to go against the grain on this one. Moto Razr Maxx all the way. The latest smart phones do everything the same. If you like to nit pick every detail like speed and performance its like comparing cars like Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Austin Martin. All these latest phones are up to par with performance just pick one.
Now my personal opinion is, Motorola has and always will be ahead of the completion when it comes to radio reception and call quality. To me that will always come first for a mobile phone. So the icandy the samsung has to offer is great but I will go for the better reception of the razr.

MOTO phones are BLAH! I don't like their stuff. Plus if updates are important you....Then I say go Samsung all the way! Otherwise wait for their next abomination of a smartphone....The MAXX HD.

That is just my .02 cents!

I seriously looked at the Razr Maxx, but having had Motorola phones for two years I chose not to. The GS3 is a much more quality phone in my opinion.

The absolute best device for radio reception for VZW is the Droid 3, so that is the best smartphone if connectivity in fringe areas is a must.

I had the Razr since launch and now have the GS3. Both devices compared results in same call range, 3g a little better on the Razr and 4g better on the GS3.

For 3G reception, the Droid 3 blows them both away. I gave my son the Droid 3 when I got the Razr, since expected the same amazing 3G reception. Droid 3 rules in that regard, but stuck with the Razr for 4G.

Edit. Edited due to poor Swype skills.

I own the GS3 and my wife owns the Razr Maxx. If I had to do it over again I would take the Maxx. She has better Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G, Battery Life, Car Dock, and phone reception than I do. Also, there are programs that work on her phone but will not work on mine (don't understand this since we both run ISC).

Just because you have a Samsung through verizon does not mean updates are guaranteed on time. This is true only if you have a non contract phone purchased straight through google. Other than that all Verizon phones are delayed when the next update is available.

That's weird. Could you give some examples of ones that don't work?

This decision is harder than I thought. Seems to be a lot of support on both sides. The camera is big factor for me and that's the one thing I am disappointed in with the Maxx.

And it seems like it is very divided on signal. Some say good, some say bad.

Ugh...

We went to Disney and they have a program that will not work on my phone; it's called Disney Mobile Magic. The other one is Verizon's Family locator app.

Addition: Just tried Vlingo In Car, and it force closes soon after launch.

I went and talked to the Best Buy rep yesterday. Asked what happens if I exchange the Maxx for the SIII and don't like it or regret it... Said they could exchange it again for a Maxx or whatever else. As long as it's within the 30 days. Can't beat that deal so I "think" I am going to make the swap today. Hoping I do love it and not have to make another return.

I don't have either but I would choose the maxx. Most would find my reasons odd....I actually prefer the nonremovable battery and memory. I want the colored led notifiers to show the colors I choose. IME Motorola support is better than Samsung or HTC support. I can see the maxx better in daylight than the sgs3.

My wife has the Razr (not the Maxx) and I think she's really jealous of my S3... :)

My wife has S3, don't feel I'm really missing anything with my Maxx. Went to Maxx from nexus, best move I could make.
