So I have a stock RAZR maxx with ICS. Tonight I noticed that it was turning the screen on by its self. Just sitting in front of me it would light up to the lock screen stay on for a minute then go off. When I did notice this I had no signal other then wifi. Then it switched to the gray 3G. Hit the lock button and it turned back off only to watch it come back on about 30 secs later. Anyone else ?

The exact same thing just happened to me on my stock RAZR. Like you, wifi was the only thing connected. Strange. As far as I know this is this first time it has happened. Of course, I just might not have noticed if it happened previously.

I don't think it was a reboot cause it happened to fast and I'm sure I would have noticed the boot sound and animation. The phone was jumping in and out of service. The bars had the red x on them. It hasn't happened since then tho. Strange.

It happened to me a couple of times. When it turns on the screen seems to be at about 10 percent brightness or so (I keep my screen at 50 percent).

Same here. It just happened for the first time this morning. It was sitting in the table next to me. I was on wifi...I think I lost data for a second. I restarted it a few minutes ago and it hasn't happened again...yet.

Yup. Screen was very dim. 10% would be about right.

Mine did the same, when it was update g apps from the play store and when I I was dropping signal from my router. Restarted the router and tweaked setting in play store and it has stopped.

Did a hard reset last night. Hasn't done it yet that I noticed. Will reset the router when I get home as well.

Mine has been doing this since I got ICS from the get-go. I spent an hour on the phone with Motorola, then 45 minutes with big red. The level two tech at Verizon told me to install "Restore Connectivity" from the Play Store. This has seemed to fix it. Before all of that I did two soft reboots, two shut downs, cache clear, and a safe mode boot with no success. If you still have the issue, give the app a try.

No sweat. I'm just as frustrated as everyone else. Has anyone heard of a fix in the form of an OTA push for this and other issues either from Moto or V?

Same here with the data dropping. Maxx with ICS just sitting on the desk beside me when the phone simply drops 4G connectivity. Happens whether I'm connected to wifi or not. 4G signal strength shows -106dBm. Not the best signal strength but the phone NEVER did this when running gingerbread. I haven't noticed this behavior on the daughter's Bionic or the wife's Thunderbolt so I doubt it has anything to do with the storms. To me that sounds like an easy excuse for a VZW customer service rep to get someone off the phone.

Just for the heck of it I installed the Restore Connectivity thing from the market. We'll see if it happens again.

I'll have to try the app as well. Still experiencing the problem with every type of reset on every type of wireless equipment I own.

My first Razr Maxx did this the day I got it. I got home, and kept seeing the screen come on, then go off after it regained connection. I did a FDR a couple times, no luck. Every time I turned the screen off, it would lose connection and the phone would wake up and reconnect itself again.

I then set the screen timeout to 30 minutes, it never lost connection. I put the phone in standby, and a minute later the screen turned on with no connection.

I swapped for another one and haven't had an issue since then.

I started having this issue again this morning. I just did another refresh. I also deleted my internal memory. If it doesn't fix my problem than i will have to get another phone.

Did the app not do anything for you?

nope. I tried it but it was still turning on. It has done it once already since refresh with almost no apps loaded.

My fascinate did this and I never did figure it out. Gladly I haven't caught my maxx doing it yet.
