RAZR Maxx turning on screen by its self.

I've been looking all over for a solution to this issue, and I still haven't found anything definitive. In my situation, the screen only started turning on automatically after I updated to ICS a few days ago.

I've tried a factory reset, and it did not change anything. All I know for sure is that when the screen turns on, I see that 4G connectivity was lost and regained in a few seconds. I'm not 100% certain, but I believe that turning off wifi makes this problem go away, but of course that's not a sustainable solution.

Hopefully Verizon takes notice, as this is a very annoying issue...

This started happening to me about a week ago. At first I thought it was rebooting but than it happened when the phone wasn't in my pocket but right next to me. Maybe that's why people are reporting lower battery life? It doesn't happen often to me so my battery isn't effected.

I've had this issue ever since the ICS update. Sucks because it drains a lot of my battery when I'm at home and the phone is connected to wifi. Until a fix is made, you can set up a smart action to turn off 4G anytime you're connected to your home router... Only downfall is if you receive a group text or picture msg, razr won't download it over wifi, has to be over mobile network. It does however solve the issue with the screen randomly turning on and the battery draining.

I say we punish VZ for a bad update.... Don't use WIFI and burn data on their 4G network :)

I dropped my home DSL because of the forced tiered data and the potential theft of my unlimited data plan, from verizon. I used to use about 1.7 - 2.1 GB via mobile now i use 5.5 - 6.3 gb's via mobile. Stick it to them. Everyone drop your home internet from verizon and get foxfi. Run your internet from your phone. Screw them! Greedy bastards raised their plans by 28% for single line users.....

I would but Comcast is fast and I couldn't run my Xbox Live optimally through 4G.

Have you tried running Xbox via you 4G. I have no problems. Connect at 75ms ping with zero lag. Its fast. Is your Comcast cable internet.

You'll never take my unlimited data!

People don't realize that they shouldn't share details when they get a magical device. Very few of us get phones that can do things all on their own like lighting up the screen to say a random hello. Now I am envious and want a magic Razr Maxx!! Mine just sits there holding still like I can't see him.

I just can't figure out why only some people seem to be having this issue. I did not have this issue on gb so I believe that it's a software issue. I guess I will keep this phone unless it gets worse and hope that a update will resolve it.

That's because They Who Shall Not Be Named (TWSNBN - this is pronounceable in their language)are trying to communicate with you. Only a select few are worthy and shall be allowed to accompany TWSNBN to their home in the interdimensional rift where they abide.

Yes, and it's awful for a few reasons.

1.) Your ping is far to high for a local connection. If you test your internet on a local bandwidth, anything over single digits and maybe low double digits is considered too high according to high end game developers such as Epic Games.

2.) You're creating lag for the other people playing with you. Modern Warfare 3, for instance, will slow my connection down to meet with yours. Instead of you having a small delay, now I have it due to them trying to make it fair and it's not.

3.) You won't notice the lag on most games, but as said above, the players with you will. I've tried this before and I dominated like I've never done before. Amazing, right?

4.) My Comcast connection is far better and more reliable than any 4G LTE. My upload speeds are above what's needed I don't get that rapid increase and decrease in data speeds due to it being Fiber Optic (to a point, anyways) and wired into my home and XBOX console. Plus, my speeds will be doubled to around 70 Mbps download in a few months at no charge so I'm excited for that.

I don't mean to sound like an ass and you can do as you wish, but thank you for creating lag for me with such an outrageous ping.I've played people from Australia with better pings than that and I'm from Illinois. Download and Upload speeds are not everything - your data takes FOREVER to travel. Your speed is like comparing the Post Office Media Mail to UPS Overnight delivery.
