RCS after all from Google effective immediately

it doesn't matter if Google is pushing it... it says my carrier does not currently support this feature. I'm on T-Mobile

Give it some time. It's a rollout, not a switch flip for everyone kind of thing. I'm on T-Mobile, and it's working for me.

I have it enabled (Note 9, Xfinity Mobile, Verizon MVNO) but it really doesn't matter since no one else I know, has it. Until it becomes broadly distributed and used, it's not too exciting.

I checked earlier this AM and it was there, I turned it on. Now it's saying not available. What gives? Note8 Verizon.

Of the people I text, maybe 2 have Android phones. Everyone else is one iPhones. So like you're saying, it doesn't really do anything for me at this point.

Verizon Message+ also does that, but I'm not sure if that means it is using RCS.

Yeah, Verizon's messaging and AT&T's both use RCS, but they don't use the RCS universal standard. That's why they're not 100% compatible unless you're messaging others using the same apps.

That's me. Sprint, Note 9 factory unlocked, it's turned on but I have no one to share it with so...other than wifi texting, there isn't any other difference for me.

I saw this yesterday and immediately went to Google Messages and enabled it on my S10+ and my wife's S9+. Within an hour, I was no longer able to access those settings and instead there is a message that says "Chat feature unavailable for this device. Your carrier does not currently support this feature.". Same on my wife's phone.

We're on T-Mobile. So it looks like the uncarrier is pulling a quintessential carrier move by blocking this?

Looks like - I'm using a TMO MVNO and I can't even get past the "Setting up" part.

It's working fine on my Verizon Note 10+. It only works on my daughter's Verizon Note 8 if WiFi is turned off.

I'm not sure if it is carrier specific or device specific at this point. I know Verizon isn't allowed to disable features. That was part of the FCC smacking Verizon's peepee as well as part of the Block C rules the FCC put into place when auctioning off Block C spectrum 12 years ago. Those rules also apply to the other carriers too...more or less..

And it should be noted it's a rollout. But Google is starting this immediately.

Does this mean it isn't her available on all devices for all carriers? I've got an unlocked S10+ on Verizon, and had issues getting the RCS hack to work, and now this won't enable either... tells me it isn't available when I go into the settings looking for it.

Could be b/c I have the unlocked model, or maybe the rollout hasn't gotten to you yet, but it's working on TMo for me.

If you cant get it to work that video works and it will eventually be transitioned over per google. My issue is that just installing it worked for a few and then it turned off.

I have T-mobile also but this isn't rolling out right away. They said in the coming weeks before the end of the year.

So it could be soon or next month. Or in between
