RCS messages default notification tone?

I've always been able to set the default notification sound for the messages app. It was either in system settings or the app itself. With the RCS chat app update, it seems that I can only set the notification sound by conversation, not by default.

Has anyone found where this setting is buried?

It is quite buried. Settings>Notifications>Behavior>Other notifications>Advanced>Sound.

I looked there before. Here is a screenshot of that screen. Not there. Moto g7

I'm using the Pixel 2 XL. Have you tried posting in the Moto forum?

Since it was an Android app, I thought I'd post here. I'll try there as well.

Solved my own problem through a post on the Lenovo site:

Settings>Apps & Notifications>(Pick an App)>Notifications>(Slide Toggle to activate "Show Notifications")>(A list of options with check boxes should appear)>(Click the words to the left of the check box "Other Notifications")

Then you can select what you need.


From there make sure Behavior>Make Sound is selected, then Sound>(choose your unique sound!!)
