Android Central Question

My phone occasionally dies and re-boots itself. If it just restarted that would be fine but it sits waiting for an encryption password. The problem is if it happens while in my pocket or while I'm asleep. I can be unavailable for several hours.

For work it's important I'm contactable 24x7. If my phone fails that's OK if it restarts and I'm only unavailable for 5-10 minutes. I can't afford to be offline for hours.

Is there any way to get the encryption software to sound an alarm so I know the phone is down?

Alternatively I'll need to remove encryption, which is a real pain as I need to do a system reset/

If you set security for the lock screen, you'll be asked for the password or PIN. That's how the lock screen works. If you set the lock screen to Swipe or None, it won't.

As for the original problem, the phone rebooting with battery left, it sounds like a dendrite in the battery (especially since it's intermittent). That means that the battery has to be replaced.

Don't think that's correct. Before I implemented encryption the phone used to re-boot OK. Yes it would lock but that's fine as I can still get calls in and unlock it when I want. The problem is that with encryption on the phone halts in mid-boot and asks for a pin. It won't receive calls or do anything until I input the pin. If I'm fast asleep the phone doesn't boot until I see it in the morning. Alarms don't work so I don't get woken.

Don't think it's the battery. It's even happened while charging.

I just want rid of encryption so the phone boots if it fails.

Yes, this is where you flash the phone with fresh firmware. I have to admit I have no experience of flashing an HTC. There are many tutorials on the Internet. Google "flash firmware HTC U11+". You can also checkout HTC's own website for the latest firmware
