After much hesitation, and many months of hearing 2.2's around the corner, I finally rooted my Verizon Fascinate. A thousand thanks to DroidXcon for his work to make it a breeze.

I'm loving 2.2 but have one or two last issues I'm trying to fix.

The one I'm working on now is re-installing NFS: Shift. I've researched this and see that other people seem to be having this problem. I've opened a ticket at EA support but haven't heard back (not sure I will).

However, I have the files I thought I needed so I'm not clear why it's not working. The files are:

  • com.ea.nfssift.apk -- the 99mb full game file
  • nfssinstallersamsungembed_1.1.64.apk -- the pre-installed trial
I've tried installing them both but I still get prompted to purchase the game again.

Has anyone had success in getting the full version re-installed? Thanks.

how did you purchase the game in the first place? in the market or through the pre-installed vzn app? and did you use TI backup before you flashed froyo?

VZW and EA both seem to try and get you in the back yard with this one. I've repeatedly seen people comment that they lose this game and then it tries to force them to buy it again for $10 instead of the 99 cents they originally paid.

Tnez21, I bought it via the trial from Verizon and I backup up using Sprite, not Titanium. I thought, since I had the 2 apks, I'd be able to simply re-install.

I'm not familiar with sprite but I got the game working on my phone without having to buy it. you might be able to get it to work tho. the file: nfssinstallersamsungembed_1.1.64.apk needs to be in the system/app folder of your phone. next open your app drawer and select the NFS icon, this should ask you if you want to install the game, install it. once the game is installed use the program you used to backup your apps and restore the app data. works great on TI but you might get it to work with Sprite.

Titanium has kept my NFS through many, many flashes. It's the app data you need, not just the apk's

If you can't get it back and don't want to start over, you can try GT Racing from Gameloft.

OK So I had the same issue......Tetris and Need for Speed won't show up in my market either after having purchased them.

Long and Short of it is an android developer at EA RE-Named the games in the App market.2 listings now exist for each game. One listed for VZW and one listed for all other providers.

The one for VZW is listed as Tetris by Ea and the other listed as NFS: Shift by EA.

You, I, and many others PAID for and Downloaded the game before they made the title change and now it thinks we didn't buy the game because we have a VZW phone and bought the game for any phone BUT a VZW phone.

I must have opened 7 tickets with EA (You might as well just give up they just pas the buck) and I keep getting the run-around, and no one seems to know how to fix the problem. They will just play the blame game and say it's on VZW's side, or google's side. Even though in the END it is EA who is at fault for changing the title of the game in the market thus fragmented paid users from VZW.

The only reason I know what happened is I sent the google market an email for help and got an email from google market stating that the developer made a change to the title and that was the problem. I have fwd'ed/sent it to EA but like I said they don't know who to pass it to in order for it to be resolved.

If I paid anymore than 99 cents each for these 2 games, I would drive down to EA's Redwood Shores office in CA (only 45 min away from me) and raise some hell until somebody came to fix it or security escorts me off the premises....

So if you get anywhere let me know or if you want to know my ticket number so there are multiple people bombarding them with the same issue let me know I am also game!
