[READ] Before you pre-order a Thunderbolt from Wirefly

Not to mention Wirefly is forcing you to signup for the unlimited texting plan, as opposed to the cheaper texting options if you don't text a lot

Yes through wirefly basically when you activate your phone you cannot change any features meaning choose the text package, and data you want prior to ordering and be prepared to pay it for the 6 months. After that you can adjust your features.

They force you unless you already have a plan with Verizon and then they offer you the 250, 500, 5000 plans.
Really, was that somewhere further in the ordering process, b/c I've got a plan that's eligible for an upgrade with only the 250 texting plan, but I didn't see anywhere to change the settings.

I see nice find not on there anymore but i got it on my phone now thanks to you. I just got off the phone with my best buy and they said they will price match wirefly, but they cannot price match this. What will you say to them to get them to match that $99.99????

Just called two of my local BBY's and they said no about the price matching on line competitors, how did you get them to agree

Just one more to add, and this applies to ALL auth resellers. If you get a lemon, you CANNOT exchange it at a Verizon corporate store. If you decide to buy through an auth reseller, go to a brick and mortar store.

... and if you buy from an authorized retailer and have a problem Verizon won't talk to you. Instead you have to go back to the retailer for questions or problems. I learned the hard way.

Amazon wireless is the same way. They give you a higher discount, but if you terminate the contract before 180 days, you'll also receive a fee from Amazon.

The way I read it, it's not 6-months added to your contract. It states 181-days from activation, which would mean a 6-month term that runs simultaneously with your Verizon contract. I would suspect that almost everyone would be fine with these conditions.

I thought that's what I said, added INTO, not on top of your regular Verizon contract. Gotta love the English language.

As far as the other comments on medical bills and estate taxes, yes those are unfortunate and I'm sure that extra $250 would help a lot. I'm sorry they happened to you in particular, I wouldn't wish that on my enemies. If you plan on these things happening to you...buy insurance. I have good health insurance. My parents don't have a large estate and are in good health. If I suddenly find I have inoperable brain cancer with 6 months to live, a Wirefly contract is the least of my concerns.

I don't live my life in fear of what major personal catastrophe could happen, that is a stressful and destructive way to live.

I can point out a few things from personal experience that things can change beyond people's control.

Two and a half years ago my mother-in-law passed away leaving a large estate. The IRS presented us with a 1.8 million dollar Federal Estate Tax that needed to be paid. In September of that year the economy crashed and we no longer had the money to pay that bill and we had to pay a 10 percent interest on the tax until it was paid. Then in January of 2009 my wife was hit broadside by a driver who went through an intersection illegally and she was severely injured and we incurred medical bills that are almost $100,000. The crumbled economy had a severe negative impact on my business and our income has dropped dramatically.

None of those things were anything over which we had any control over but our lives have been changed. People can lose their jobs through no fault of their own, they can be transferred to places where they are forced to change their provider because of coverage issues. People can have medical issues which can have dramatic effect over their lives and incomes and ability to spend money.

That Wirefly contract is a load of crap, pure and simple. If anyone wishes to take on those contractual elements in order to save a measly $50, then they should have their heads examined.

R

Those things are all horrible but what are the chances of any of them happening between day 15 and month 6?
I'm not even going to address that in the situations you presented a wireless contract, even a $300 penalty is a pittance.

They didn't force me to do that. I was able to choose from all the same plan options as if I ordered a phone on verizons own web site.

On their site "The phones you order from Wirefly are the exact same devices you'd get from going to a carrier retail store. In fact, as the internet's #1 authorized dealer for Verizon Wireless, Sprint, and T-Mobile, we only activate devices from certified carrier distributors. Every device has a full U.S. warranty, and is never refurbished unless explicitly sold as such."

So that should be the 1 year manufacturer's warranty. besides having to obviously ship it back instead of driving to my local verizon, I don't see a difference.
