Don't dare go into the G4 forums, or any other forum for that matter as you'll also find battery saving settings listed there as well. As for Motorola, they have a history of poor battery life. Nexus, not much better history.
I will say that lollipop has borked battery life for most phones. But it's just easier to blame Samsung. I'll also say that my zf2 and m8 both have the same tweaks to help save battery life as my S6. Nothing different between phones. Oh, and the longest running phone that I have regardless of battery size? The S6.

Lollipop did definitely ruin battery life. I had the Note 4 before it got the Lollipop update and battery life on it was phenomenal. As odd as it may sound, battery life has been pretty much the same for the three Lollipop devices I've owned (Nexus 6, S6, and G4). I no longer own the Nexus or G4, but below are a couple of links to screenshots I took for battery life on the S6 and G4. I forgot to do the same for the Nexus back when I owned it. I'm not going to go through and list all my settings, but my carrier is Verizon, location is always active, and I manually manage the screen brightness.
