Curved front and back glass? Compare the V30 to the V10. Which is easier to crack?

More glass would be easier to crack but you make it sound as if that is the only way but it isn't. "Military Grade" V20 below and I see cracks.

Seems like the screen itself has no curved edges, but the device has. That's great news to me. The back I don't like that much, but it's acceptable in my opinion. They should remove the V30 print to make it look cleaner.

Whats your opinion on the device?

I like this!

There you said it yourself. More glass is easier to crack.

Yep and as I said -- other phones still crack just like the "Military Grade" V20. It seems even being dubbed as that it still has the issue so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't understand how glass phones get that "Military Grade" to be honest. I mean how can they be that stable according to the certification? As far as I know it includes drop tests and so on ...

I think the point being made is that the image is not curved.... That's a difference.
No one mentioned screen protectors and that is a different issue.

Yes, that's exactly what I had in mind. I hate the curved image of a S8!

Screen protectors aren't relevant for me. I dislike the look of them and never used one. So far, after nearly 5 years of usage, my smartphone still has no scratches.

I felt the same way but Gorilla Glass 4 and 5 are tougher to break but easy to scratch. I found out the hard way.

That's not so nice ... Do you know how scratch resistent it is compared to the older Gorilla Glass 2? That's what my current smartphone has.

The older ones were tougher to scratch. The best one I had was on Droid Maxx...I don't recall if it was 2 or 3

Two sides of glass makes it 2x likely to crack. Add in the curved screen, make it 3x.¯\_(-.-)_/¯

Which phone were you using? The gorilla glass 2 and 3 were very much more scratch resistant. Gorilla glass 4 and 5 is much easier to scratch, and it looks ugly.

Everyone puts cases on their phones. Complaining about a glass back is silly
I somewhat agree because as you indicate people case their phones.... Not everyone does but I think for the most part its pretty true. I still think its silly to make it out of glass but the screen is also glass so what's the real issue other than personal preference?

Yep but sadly the "Military Grade" V20 still suffers from the same issue so .. Shocking how it seems to be any smartphone right?

The metal back of the V20 is nearly indestructible. The camera glass was a design flaw, however, cheaply fixable at $3 for the glass adhesive. How much will it cost to fix the entire back panel of an S8 or HTC11? How complicated will it be? Very.

Still can crack even with a case. Plus dirt/sand will gather beneath the case and lightly scratch the glass. Have you seen an iPhone 4 with a case over it, after some time? It doesn't look brand new, that's for sure.

I think the V30 will stand a chance against the Note 8 because of the fact the fingerprint scanner placement is in a better spot. That can seal the deal. Plus the lower price I'm expecting, with the Note 8 estimated at $1000. It will the called the "alternative note" phone.

Possibly .. but my point still stands that any phone can be damaged even "military grade" (or so called) devices. You ignoring that fact just proves my point of you simply trying to show negative on others versus your favored device :P.
