Really Hating My Nexus 10 and the crap battery!

...and likely know more about Android than most of the people here...

I doubt you know more than us since all of your posts on AC is just to troll us, and not useful to the overall continuation of this forum.

I think I am seeing the same thing,,,,very little time before the battery runs low and so far I have been charging for 2 hours and its sitting at 50%. I also can not charge with just any microusb, it has to be the one which came in the box else the Nexus draws more power than it recieves (e.g. the micro usb i use to charge my Galaxy Nexus).

So, it would seem to me that this is not what one would sign up for when buying a premier Google/Nexus/Samsung product. I wonder if Google would stand up and admit the inferiorness of this power situation. Its really not a long term proposition and i still have a few days to return it. I like the tablet otherwise and i don't want to go through the hassle of returning it.

What to do???????

Android Central,,,,why didn't you mention this in your review? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do people know just how big of a battery this thing has?! I have a HP Touchpad with a 6,300mAh and it has to charge on the cable/charger that came with it or else it will take forever. It also takes a while to charge in general and if I use it while its charging it takes a long while. The nexus 10 has a 9,000mAh one...your cellphone is likely around 2,000mAh.

You have to remember that it is charging a battery that is over 4 times the size of your cellphone all through a micro USB.

Edit: to be specific. My EVO 3D has a 1,730mAh battery Nexus 10 has 9,000mAh...that's 5.2 times bigger than my phone. I don't know how long it takes for your phone to charge fully from dead but it isn't short.

Hello OP,

I really think you have a lemon. I've actually been really impressed with the battery.

I received my N10 on Tues with a battery at 62%.and just put it to charge for the first time (today - Friday) between 2 - 3 hours ago at 14%. This is with no settings changed out the box with he exception of Wifi being turned on. Its now at 64%, a rate of 25% - 16% per hour.

Both my wife and I have been using it to browse the web and watch videos on YouTube as well as showing our family pictures and clips of our newborn on Thanksgiving (yesterday).

I think if you compare my stats with yours, you'll agree that your unit is a dud and needs to be exchanged. Hope this helps and things work out for you. Take care.

There is a limit to how fast they can charge using USB. But having usb charging is a *MAJOR* feature. I *HATED* having a proprietary charger on the Xoom.

1) No proprietary connector
2) No proprietary cable
3) No proprietary charger
4) Able to charge in car
5) Able to use one of those cool portable Anker portable batteries.

The Xoom charges faster with it's proprietary everything, but it was SO less functional! I personally don't care that it takes longer to charge. I am very happy with this setup!!!

I disagree. Currently there is no way to have the USB connected and the device charging. I liked that about my Xoom. I'm looking forward to the pogo charger...

The reason it takes so long to charge is that it is using Micro USB and a bastardized version at that. Standard micro USB doesn't provide enough juice to charge a tablet.

My N10 takes about the same time to charge as my gf's iPad 3 maybe a bit longer but not much. You do realize the other end of that 30 pin connector (obsolete) or lightning cable is a USB connector right? Luckily we can also use the pogo connector to charge much faster....oh wait you can't with an iPad you are permanently stuck with terrible charging times...oh well...

I can't imagine any time I would want to charge and use USB data at the same time. Of course, everyone is different.

Just wanted to give an update and status of my N10. I got my new N10 replacement yesterday afternoon, got it setup like the old one, did the whole restore (1.2 gig download )and everything. I have been streaming movies, web browsing etc and the thing is still on 35% from the factory charge of 60%ish.

Yeah my old one had to be defective.

Really liking my N10 and the battery. :D

And they all lived happily ever after. :D

This is from me, on my EVO 3D.

That's understandable. What I used to do a lot is play emulators with the HDMI plugged in to my HDTV and a PS3 controller plugged into the USB on my Xoom....I'd also have it plugged in to conserve battery life. I also used to do the same with just playing on the internet using a Bluetooth keyboard and a WiFi USB mouse.

I guess I should get with the times and get a Bluetooth mouse.

Is there a non root option for using a ps3 controller via Bluetooth? I was trying to hold of with the root....

No way. 4 hours till a full charge, don't believe it.

Sometimes a defective unit slips by even the top manufactures QC (quality control) as long as they replace it with a working one I'm sure your fustration will change to a :) and the apple fan boys aren't trolling they are envious of androids great takeover!!!

My battery was down to 4%.
Charged it over night and still only 60%.
Why is that?

loving my nexus 10.
wishing I could replace my galaxy s2 with the new s3!

Unfortunately micro USB can be a bottle neck for charging tablets... I would also love to have a standard plug for all my devices.

Actually I have far more. I also have had both iOS and Android devices for years and likely know more about Android than most of the people here. When you buy Samsung made cheap plastic sold by Google at cost then you get what you pay for.

Hummm - iPads (& iPhones) are made of Samsung parts for crucial components ... including the processor, memory chip and screen ... not luck on this one dude! :-\

Whew, thank you so much for posting that screenshot... I was starting to think I was the only one who had a picture of Brandon Lewis as his profile picture!
