Using Vaelpak 2.3. Everything was perfect for a couple weeks...until I used Vaelpak Settings to flash kernels. I flashed to BS#6..then tried HTC#11. After that my Evo was sluggish and everytime I tried to use Rom manager I'd get SU permissions denied. SO I nandroid restored back to when everything ran great. All is well except I cannot use rom manager to fix permissions (error) and wireless tether cannot start tethering. Any ideas?

have you contacted Vaelek about this yet? He would be the best person to ask. If I were you, I would uninstall wireless tether, then reinstall it. Are you using Vaeleks version of wireless tether? It's on his website if youre not

Note That Vael is also a Member here so no need Searching for him on XDA FYI

Hmm... I'm on his forum a lot and I haven't seen anyone with this issue... Open the Superuser app and make sure that all the SU permissions are still enabled.

this happened to me a long time ago, i actually had to unroot then re root to best of my memory. I couldnt get into rom manager without it saying denied. and same thing with wirless tether happened to me when it wouldnt tether

Ok got wireless tether working by installing the version from vaelpak settings...still a ton of issues with rom manager. I think its specific to flashing kernel 11. After flashing, my software version no longer read vaelpak 2.3...instead it read something like "mixed 6.xxx.x" funny thing is that after nandroid restoring, I'm still throwing errors. Is it possible I screwed my recovery?

I had a similar issue with TB and ROM Manager at one point. All I did was uninstall then re-install and they got SU permissions.

Seems like root functions are working with other apps...just rom manager problems and a few FCs randomly.

uninstall ROM manager and then wipe your dalvik and caches. Then go ahead and reinstall it. see what happens... it sounds obvious it's partial to ROM manager...

actually uninstall any apps that are having SU permission issues. then wipe caches and reinstall... it is possible your recovery is glitched too, hence the reason your having an issue when you flash your recovery.

Try what i recommended, then if it works, make a new nandroid and delete your old ones. They're probably taking up a lot of space on your SD card. I deleted the first 6 nandroids i did since they're so outdated

Truslide I think your right about a glitched recovery. Tried flashing AR within RM and it flashed but when I try to get into recovery I can't get past the bootloader screen...and clockwork wont wipe the dalvik...keeps bringing me back to the previous revovery screen . Thanks for everyone's support.

so wait... you can't even get into clockwork recovery?

If you cant... have you tried to use the quickboot app in vaelpak?

I get into clockwork, I can clear the cache but when trying to clear the dalvik, it puts me back to the previous screen.

try this...

wipe cache partition
reboot recovery
try dalvik

if it doesnt work reboot recovery and try it 2 or 3 times see if it will read without loading the ROM.

if that doesn't work report the issue and see if you can reinstall clockwork.

last option is to do a data wipe

and then reinstall all ur apps from appbrain. then see if you have the error with ROM manager.

did you go into the superuser app and tell the app to forget the permissions for ROM manager? you can try that also

Ok got into AR recovery, wiped cache and dalvik, reinstalled RM and still getting an error stating an error occurred when trying to run the privileged command. I think my phone just hates clockwork .

go into superuser and find the apps that are getting the error, select the "forget" button.

what happens?

When I select "forget" it just removes the apps from the list

right, thats what it should do. then run the app again to grant SU permissions to see if you get an error again. maybe there was a glitch in the SU cache. If that doesnt fix it... repeat the forget permission step, then clear your caches again. see if that works... i'm thinking about all the options other than a full wipe... bare with me.
