Really want to keep my Pixel 2 XL but I can't get over how terrible the messaging is (iMessage)

If you want to make an informed decision on what's best, then yes. How can you possibly say one thing is better then another without test driving and/or spending time with both?

Why can't people find one and consider it the best for them? An iPhone user doesn't have to use an Android device if they are content with the iPhone.

Gotta date everyone before getting married.

People can "feel" that an iPhone is best for them if they want. Of course they can be content, but they can't promote it as being better then an Android phone if they've never used one. Because, how do you know? Saying "you have to date everyone before you get married" is completely asinine and not even remotely the same thing. You can't compare emotion to a piece of technology 😂🤣. If you are talking about a physical piece of technology, nobody should really be taking your opinion to heart if your saying iOS is better then Android, when you've never used Android. Anyone reviewing or comparing the operating systems will have used both to make a legitimate comparison.

So an Android phone is best for everyone?

Where did I say that? I said you need experience with both iOS and Android to make an informed decision on what's best. Reading comprehension.

If an iPhone person likes their iPhone, let them be.

🤣 You are having a very hard time comprehending this conversation. It's like having a conversation with Siri 😂😂

But it's ok for iPhone people to like their iPhones without using an Android phone.

Sure, it's fine for them to like their iPhones without using an Android. As long as they aren't arguing that iOS is better then Android, without having used Android.

Try very hard now to understand what I'm saying. ;)

So it's ok for iPhone folks to like their iPhones more than any other phones only if they used all of the other phones?

I like my Android phones more then any iPhone, but I'm not going to say it's better then iPhone just because I like it. I haven't really spent much time with any particular iPhone, so it would be unfair for me to say Android is better.

Android does everything I need it to do, so I've never felt the need to try anything else.

But this is my last post on this matter, because a) It's like talking to a brick wall LOL, and b) I'm 99% sure you are just trolling (nobody can be this inept LOL).

iMessage is always going to be difficult for Android to counter. Anyone has to admit, that is usually the one thing that a lot of people who shift from iOS to any other platform says that they miss. If only Google can come up with something, stick with it and actually make a service that competes against it (imo, Hangouts was pretty close at one time).

My boss had an iPhone X and a Galaxy S8 and can never put his active SIM in the S8 because of iMesssage.

I do it no problem. I just turn off iMessage on my iPhones before I take the Sim card out. Never had a issue.

They are supposed to update Android Messages to have a web interface soon, among other things. It's been reported by the usual suspect android websites.

I have had iPhones for many years, and yes, one of the main reasons why it's difficult to move to Android is iMessage. While third party messaging apps can provide similar functionality, getting others to install/use them is usually a tall order. SMS/MMS is ubiquitous but limited in functionality, and I look forward to what RCS can bring. But I still carry an iPhone on my primary number for now and use my Pixel 2 XL on a second line for most other things (email, browsing, etc.).
