Yep, you gotta wait for the note 9 and by that time the pixel 3 will be out a month later to trump it once again
I did the same on Sunday. No matter what I did I could get better pictures on my Pixel. I can hold out and wait for the upcoming phones but I think I'm not going to switch till this phone gets a little long in the tooth.
My girlfriend thinks I'm an ***** because she's like what do you mean you want to love the phone? It takes crappy pictures send it back. She said I'm already sick of hearing you complain about it. 1 out of 10 good photos is not good. The pixel takes 9 out of 10 good photos. She said send the phone back so I don't have to hear you complain.
My wife was mad when I said I was going back to the Pixel because she knows I'd have to pay a restocking fee. I then showed her the photos from my son's birthday party on Saturday compared to what I took at his small birthday dinner with grandparents on Tuesday with my Pixel and she said take it back.

I have 0 issues in my camera department. My 2xl and s9+ look identical in nearly every photo...except the ones where hdr on the pixel goes crazy. I think your s9 is defective.
Depending upon your carrier your restocking fee could be up to 75$. As far as the camera being defective the fact that it still has the exact same camera as the S8 and S8 plus tells me that yes it is a defective from the factory. The S8 model did not have a great front facing camera and the S9 plus did not build on that one bit. In fact it remained exactly the same but gave some cute little selfie Focus feature that doesn't work worth a damn. All of the photos are retouched and look horrible on the front facing camera. The rear camera does take some great photos. However when you tell me camera reimagined I assume that you have actually reimagined the entire camera not just the rear camera. This is horrible if you are trying to entice me to spend $800 on a new device. You need to outdo my previous one before you asked for my money.I have 0 issues in my camera department. Whomever is charging 75.00 for a restocking fee needs their *** beat from Cali to India then from India to Washington DC.
I totally agree that software updates would resolve the front facing camera quality. Because installing the Google Camera APK allows the S9 plus to take beautiful Crystal Clear front facing photos.
