Reason for not waiting for the Bionic?

I don't want you to take this the wrong way, Jude526. I absolutely feel for you in your time of distress. The current state of the economy has been hard on a lot of people and I really hope things improve for you :)

A forum dedicated to the enthusiasm of a platform is going to have people expressing their anxiety of waiting on a new piece of technology. It's just a fact of life. This is our outlet so we can vent our frustrations and anxieties in (hopefully) a helpful, understanding environment.

Well said. I mean come on, its excitement not whining. For the most part anyway. As the previous poster stated "no offense" but I would assume that most people that are posting here and getting the phone are employed and looking forward to getting the phone. Don't slight us for that.

I think the Thunderbolt name is jazzier. I'm gunna enjoy showing it off. I wouldn't be so stoked to say Bionic, then have to repeat the name cause their eyes go blank with a "huh". The 2001 monolith look is pretty dated.

I for one would love the specs of the Bionic in the TB minus the RAM but it's not going to happen. I've had a lot of friends use brands outside of HTC and they always have problems. In particular one friend of mine started with the Samsung VZW model, went to the Droid X and once she got to the Incredible its been smooth sailing.

Though the specs look weaker, HTC knows how to optimize them to succeed.

i love Sense. and Sense 2? gives me the shivers.
HTC updates their products quickly, better track record.
giant Dev community for HTC products

I originally was debating tween these two. The fact that my Storm is giving me grief, I really want a new phone and I like the looks of the TB better ... add to that all the waiting for the TB could be repeated w/the Bionic .. I'm done waiting. I really have no doubt that even though the Bionic *may* be better than the Thunderbolt (but I don't know because I'm new to Android) it's got to be a d*** site better than my Storm. Soon as TB is available I'm it's mine.

512 RAM for Bionic. Not strong enough. dual core and just 512 RAM???? weird

Been discussed ad nauseum. Note that it's 512MB DDR2 RAM, not the NAND/flash memory-type RAM in most (if not all) current mobile phones, and thus much faster. Check out the Bionic forum.

I would happily take this over the bionic the d2 has turned me off of Motorola. I don't want to buy something than have the oem tell me what I can and can't do with my phone. As long as I'm not breaking the law or being a data hog by tethering let me do as I wish with my phone even if its porting webos to it

I don't mean to call you out, but I, respectfully, feel the need to correct you. Current mobile phones do not use NAND/flash memory for RAM (and I don't believe that has ever been done). They use DDR. DDR2 has the potential to be faster (although without any other details, we can't draw much of any conclusion). FWIW, DDR2 will draw less power when compared to a similar speed DDR configuration.

In either case, 768MB of DDR ram will be faster under certain circumstances and 512MB of higher speed and low latency DDR2 ram will be faster under other circumstances.

The 24th will be here soon enough. I know people have been anticipating it with great anxiety, but geeze people it is a phone ! You are going to have it soon. Just think about it for a minute. You have a phone right? and it is working for you right? there are many people out there who don't even have a decent phone or a job for that matter. Feel good about what you have, be be thankful for what you HAVE. I have a great phone, but I have lost my job....and am trying to be thankful for what I do have and hope I find a job soon so I don't LOSE everything I have. Sorry, but am really tired of seeing the whining about a phone not being released yet. It is ridiculous. It will be here and it will be awesome.

Not for nothing but I think it is BS for you to come to an Android forum and knock people for being excited about a new Android phone.

I truly feel bad that you lost your job but venting about it here will do you no good and just aggravate people. Instead, you should spend your free time on monster.com, careerbuilder.com, etc.... and find a new job so you can join all of us in our excitement without being debbie downer.

Just my 2 cents :)

Honestly, I'd instantly choose the Bionic over the thunderbolt because of the specs and I generally prefer moto hardware over htc. Moto's attitude towards the dev community and openness is what's making my decision for me.

And I prefer aosp roms, which will more than likely be developed for the Tb.

I'll go Thunderbolt over Bioinic because HTC's software implementation is the best out there while Moto's is not very good.

Then I stand corrected. :) Was just repeating what I thought I had seen.
