Some here have posted rumors that the Galaxy Nexus has been delayed by Verizon due to a rebooting issue. I've been able to confirm that this is not the case, but there is a problem that has delayed the release (and apparently supply to the UK has been halted as well).

It's a volume issue. While playing music or even talking on the phone the volume will reduce... sometimes to a level that is too low to hear. The volume rocker does not work to increase the volume. I'm told that this may NOT me an ICS problem, but could be a hardware problem on Rev. 9.

I'm not trying to spread gloom and doom. It could be as simple as a software patch, but if it does require hardware revisions... well let's not talk about that.

This will probably be hitting the media soon.

Here is the link to the code issue:

Not saying anything about any hardware/software issue is better for their shareholder worth than announcing it, I would think.

However, if it were an issue wouldn't it have already been reported by those that have already received theirs in the UK?

I believe either on The Verge or on the XDA forum they were discussing the volume issue. It didn't explain that it would decrease on its own, but rather that the volume rocker just wouldn't function, period.

Not sure if this would be an issue on Verizon's network after reading this from the bug report page. Who knows...

this is looking more like a hardware related fault - the problem only seems to happen to those who are on a network that uses the 900MHz frequency band for 2G, so that would be Vodafone, O2, giffgaff, and Tesco Mobile. Not sure if there are other networks here that use the 900MHz frequency band, but they would surely be affected by this problem. Also, this problem would likely be made worse if you happen to be in a low signal coverage area, since the phone would have to transmit more RF to latch onto the network and thus cause more interference.

I've been hearing this a lot. I also entered my email on the UK seller's site Handtec, to be notified when they had more GN's available and, haven't heard anything. Today was the day they were supposed to receive some, if not sooner, so maybe there is a issue.

If this is what's really wrong, I don't have a problem with them delaying it at all.

You know, if Verizon would just come out and SAY THAT, I think we would all be fine with the delay.

They haven't set a date, they said by the end of the year. All these nexus fanatics are getting these imaginary dates set in their head to just be disappointed. This phone is a December release... bet on that.

ETA; to all the people that are saying "I'm ok with the delay if this is the cause".. you'll be ok either way b/c whenever the phone drops you'll still buy it. If you decide you're tired of Verizon thoroughly testing their phones, then go to another carrier vzw won't miss you.

There's nothing in this thread that hasn't been covered here.

FWIW, the reason for the delay has been confirmed by at least 3 good sources and it has nothing to do with hardware and everything to do with Verizon's buggy software.

Holy crap! Are you crazy? You cant come on this forum and discuss the Galaxy Nexus delay. It simply COULD NOT have been delayed! VZW has not announced a date so cannot be delayed! I cant believe you would come here and discuss this, add to the rumor mill, provide conjecture on a public forum (A meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged) dedicated to the Android OS and specifically in this thread dedicated to the worlds first phone with massively overhauled latest release of Android that the entire world is anxious for! the internet is abuzz, every tech blog is discussing reviewing or waiting to review. it is on the national news shows. but we are CRAZY for wanting it so bad.

LOL, just having fun, holy cow, i took the entire Thanksgiving week off, time to light the threads up!:)

LOL, yes you are right, VZW wireless is doing us a great service by thoroughly testing this phone to make sure it is of the same HIGH QUALITY as many phones before it like; the BB Storm, the Thunderbolt, and do not forget the Bionic.Your right VZW has the strictest standards and for that i am thankful for the looooooooooooooooooooooooong wait!

I bet if they were just rushed out the phones would have been a lot worse than what they are. I'm hoping for a December release just to stress everyone that's following this so closely a little more. Quit believing all these imaginary dates.

I really haven't had any issues with my Thunderbolt and I never had any software or even hardware issues with my Storm. The only issue with the Storm was the fact that it lacked the hardware to make it a good phone, but that wasn't Verizon's fault, that was on RIM and seeing the way RIM is working now, I'm glad I went with Android.

I can't say anything about the Bionic because I don't have it, but I've had 2 of the 3 phones you mentioned and didn't have any issues with either of them. Keep in mind that not everyone who has a phone is on a forum and usually if a person has a phone and they are happy with it, they are not going to come here to complain. Even if there are 1000 people on the Thunderbolt forums complaining which is being incredibly generous, they sold over 250,000 of them.

the other 249,000 people dont know about this forum!

it is well documented that all 3 phones have had multiple problems.

the storm never left beta! having owned it, i feel completely opposite of you. it had decent hardware with terrible buggy software. it was rushed to market, that is a well documented fact.

yeah, I actually liked the hardware. Had to put a couple sticky notes behind the battery to make the stupid thing click correctly but was all good after that. Problem was that BBOS was and still is one big POS.

Wait. So your upset because the storm was rushed to market with buggy software AND your upset that the GN isn't being rushed to market for possible bug fixing?

Well then maybe that was the issue, BBOS was so terrible that it felt like the hardware needed to be better. Honestly though, I didn't start having MAJOR issues until about a year and a half after I had it.
