reborn rom drains my battery

Take a look under settings -> about phone -> battery use and what do you see there? Might be worth taking a look at spare parts too and get an idea of what's running... to get that sort of battery drain, something's running and using alot of cpu or something...

I want to say others have suggested doing a dirty flash... but I'm unsure that that would help in this situation... did you just load reborn? and if so, what was your previous rom? did you wipe before you loaded reborn?

I've seen some pretty significant battery drain issues myself. I rooted and flashed to Reborn ROM about a week ago. Today my phone has been off the charger for 3 hours and battery is down to 80% with some light to medium usage. Does that sound comparable with what others are seeing? I seems to be a lot more battery drain compared with the stock ROM.

I love the Reborn ROM and I don't think this alone would make me want to go back to stock, but I would be nice to identify what is causing the battery drain.

Depends on cellular signal... (is your phone constantly trying to roam? if it's roaming, it's CONSTANTLY trying to get back to it's home network...) how much is your screen on? what are your top talking applications (in this case, what's using the most cpu time - see spare parts)

I'm currently at ~ 96% battery... though my phone was plugged into my computer for a bit here at work so that screws up my comparison...

Most day's I'm between 90 and 85% by this point but that can be attributed to my working in a basement.

Yesterday I managed to hammer my battery good... by ~ 2:30 pm, I was down to ~ 11%... but I think that's due to software left running in the background.

Take a look at autorun manager... you can control what apps can automatically run...

Hate to say this but I dont think its Reborn ROM doin ya dirty like that...

Did you accidentally wipe your battery stats inside ADVANCED for Xionia Recovery in the middle of wiping everything such as Dalvik???

WARNING! Do not wipe it! Just asking...

Also.. did u have ur cell all the way charged before you flashed over to Reborn?

Just tryin to get some more info.. You may need a new battery tho

BEFORE GETTING A NEW BATTERY TRY TO BUMP CHARGE! <----------- Google it homie :)

Run a stock ROM and see if you get better battery life. I just got a good 30 hours off the last charge.

I'm at 72% and have been using it light/med since I unplugged it at 6:30 this morning... (6 hours)
I have terrible connection where I have been all day so that is causing most of my battery life to drain.
I did bump my display brightness down after flashing this ROM and that helped me earlier this week.

yeah... cell standby can really kick your phone's battery in the head... I routinely see between 45 and 60% time without signal when I'm at work... and that drains it fast...

When I'm at home (with a good signal during the day) I routinely see a ~ 20% battery drain during a 12-14 hour period of time... (meaning I take it off the charger around 8am, and when I re-connect it to the charger around 9:30 pm my phone's down to ~ 80-75% battery left...

I too am having trouble since flashing to Reborn (coming from Nameless). Compared to Nameless I am getting considerably reduced time until the phone is dead - and it has gone completely dead on me in less than 15 hours with 'average' usage at least 5 times. Basically it won't get me through a day (7am - 10pm) without charging via computer USB or car charger.

I've removed all the apps that have been added since the change in battery life, but still no improvement. My stats:
> Currently at 84% after 4.5 hours off charger, with a 5 minute phone call and 5 minutes of web browsing
> Cell standby: 46%; Time on: 5:09; Time w/o signal: 0%
> Phone idle: 43%; Time on: 4:46
> Display: 6%; Time on 23minutes
> Voice calls: 6%; Time on: 3min
> Android system: 2%; CPU Total: 4min; CPU Foreground: 10sec; Data received: 115 KB

I'm about to flash back to stock and see how it performs.

I've been watching my battery life for the past few days. I think part of my problem is here at work the signal must be poor. Over the weekend at home I could go most of the day and only use about 20-30% battery, I'm back at work today I've already lost 20% and I have only been here about 4-5 hours.

The other thing is, with the actual numerical indicator for battery life (which we didn't have with stock) maybe I'm just paying closer attention to it more than I did with the stock indicator. Does that make sense? In other words maybe the stock battery was dropping at the same or similar rate but I paid less attention to it since it was just an icon rather than the actual numerical value.

I've seen horrible battery life as well since 2.1 update. I'm down to 66% already today. With 2.0 along with no IQ patch, I would get 30+ hours of battery life. I would be able to go all work day with about a 20-30% drain. Now, by the end of the work day, I'm down to the 30% range which isn't even enough to make it to the end of the day.

I checked the "about phone" and checked the battery stats. It shows Cell Standby at using 27%, and the time without signal is 0%.

Steps i took after Reborn + Battery issues started making me hate my phone

1) I flashed back to ThundeRom
2) Charged my phone to 100%
3) wiped the battery stats,
4) ran navigation, screen at full brightness, and all options turned on (bluetooth, wifi, gps, sync) even then it lasted 7 hours.
5) Once drained completely I recharged the phone using the house charger to 100%

Yesterday I unplugged the phone around 10 am and didnt get back home until midnight and the battery was at 72% after 14 hours, i used the phone for a few calls, texts, and browsing.

I only installed google voice and realtor.com apps

I no longer want to throw my phone away :)

I've owned my phone since last November and this is my first time flashing to a ROM about two weeks ago, and my battery drains a lot faster with this also. Getting ready to try ThunderROm, looking forward to see some more new ROM's, thanks.

everytime I look at running apps, my maps and location find friends is always running, I haven't used them once yet, I think that's part of my battery drain, looking for a solution.

This is really strange. Isn't Reborn just the newest version of Nameless (I think it was ill-advised to change the name, but it's certainly the developers prerogative to do so if he wants)? Doesn't seem right that battery life is so degraded.

Can we just go back to the earlier version of Nameless, instead of thunderrom?

Nameless was already in use by another rom so they really had to change the name.

Yes you can definitely go back to an earlier version of nameless if you like, I know several people did so when they were complaining about battery issues.

I myself have not had any serious issues with reborn 2.1 but to each their own

I had battery issues with reborn also, but am going to try it out again here. Flashing now. Nick's stuff is usually pretty stout, so im giving it another try.

Possible Solution

I am trying the following solution posted by Thekraven in the main Reborn Rom thread:

I was researching this battery drain using Reborn 2.1. I've been losing 5-10% hour just texting and web. I even went back to a stock VD kernel, and still had similar drains. So I went back to ThunderRom 1.83, and it was a little better @ 5-6% per hour. So something still was draining it more than the rom I previously used. I had thought maybe the batteries have started to degrade already at the 6 month mark, but i still wanted to see what was causing this.

I think i found the battery draining bug. It is google voice version 0.4.2.24 . I caught it a few times spike system resourses and become very laggy and have to kill it. And i was losing battery life anywhere from 5-10 % per hour. I have since installed and older google voice version 0.3.4, and that has fixed any lag and FC. Plus battery life has returned to 1-2% loss per hour. The stock email program sucks battery life too.

So its not the Reborn Rom. But we have to use Google voice for the voice mail, so it is related to this rom.

Give it a try if you are having battery drain problems. Uninstall GV 0.4.2.24, and install below.
google voice 0.3.4
