reborn rom drains my battery

Im down 18% since 6:30 this morning. Thats about 4 hours of use. And I have only texted a handful of times, and had 1 2 minute conversation. Ill give the above google voice deal a try. Other then that, I love this rom. Its rock stable for me.

*edit* that cant be the issue, as I dont have google voice even installed.

The notification widgets do use about 4-5% power no matter what. So if your battery is lasting only 12-13 hours, it is consuming about 50% of your battery. The easiest solution is to flash one of the themes that turn off the notification buttons. Battery life came back to ThunderRom levels after that. Then you will see better battery life. If there was a way to wake the notification button widgets when you swipe down, then maybe there would be some powersaving. Overall Reborn Rom is great, just play around with it.

which notification widgets are you speaking of??? The only thing I have on my home screen is beautiful widgets. I dont use any other sort of widget. And only have the home screen set with anything on it, the rest are blank.

Even with the drop down power widgets I've been off the charger today for going on 10 hours. I've sent/received a handful of texts and a few quick (5 - 10 min) convos plus my usual playing(facebook, sharebuilder etc) and am at 75% battery life. Before I switched to reborn rom my phone would certainly have been dead by now, so I woudln't think the rom would be to blame, but I am new to all of this as well.

What is this based on?

Its based on a clean install of Reborn 2.1 and no themes And a week of battery testing from the same routine everyday, just pinpointing things. I get 13 hours on it. Repeately get that everyday. Each day has the same routine, same location.. 3 hours of calls, texting, and minimal web browsing, all on WIFI. The calls itself drains 18-20% per hour. Just letting the phone sit there idling, it does drain 5-6% per hour.

As per your recommendation of loading a theme that does away with the notification bar, Battery levels have dropped back down to Nameless and ThunderRom levels at 1-2% per hour. This is still with the noIQagent implemented. Calls still drain the battery 18-20% per hour.

And i did test going back to ThunderRom, and battery levels went down on an idle phone were at 1-2% per hour.

I am using Watchdog to see what programs spike cpu use.

my issue, is every time i turn my phone off or reboot, I have alarm service, maps, and location find friends running in the background, one I don't use the alarm, two, I don't use location service, and I haven't used my maps since March. Everyone 1 hour or so, at least one is running when its not in use. Yesterday I flashed the blue theme and bling dialer, and main my battery have no chance now.

You could always use Titanium backup pro and freeze those programs that run when you dont want them too!
I would suggest bloat freezer but some times not all processes and apps show with that, where as titanium backup pro you can filter it how you please!
This is what i do with my map app and a few other apps or processes that are constantly turning on when they are not needed. I would suggest you read this thread, this is what I do and it works, My battery lasts all day( very bad signal strength at work) and will last all weekend without charging if you can stop the processing that are sucking battery life when they should not.
SO in summing up I do not believe it is the Reborn Rom that is causing the battery issue people are having. Once I flashed to Reborn Rom there where alot less things that need freezing by TB.

Thanks I appreciate the info, will try that

Google Voice has always been a problem on my wife's Optimus with any rom she ran. It killed her phone in a matter of hours with barely any use. Spare Parts proved it was GV as well.

I haven't tried the older version of GV posted but she uses Hullo Mail now and it works fine. It doesn't send your VM in text form but it has the same playback feature as GV . Besides, GV text conversion is terrible anyway.

Her battery has been really good on Reborn rom, probably better then any of the past custom Roms she had installed on there............She goes from 7:00am to about 10pm with about 20% - 30%battery left. She does a lot of texting, some calls, and reads books on there for a good hour or more.
Definitely better then me EVO!

so yesterday, i unplugged at 6:30am, and when i got home, at about 12:30pm I had 30% battery left. I guess thats not so bad. Granted, I didnt power use yesterday or anything, just texting and a few phone calls.

That's pretty awful. Especially if you really didn't make many calls, play games, browse a lot. You'd be very lucky to get 12 hours out of it since you're already at 30% after only 6 hours.

might want to read that one again ;) Thats AM to PM

Depends on cellular signal... (is your phone constantly trying to roam? if it's roaming, it's CONSTANTLY trying to get back to it's home network...)

What if i set it to roam only and get a better signal? would that alleviate the constant searching for signal and increase battery life?

I tried that once, when roaming it still trys to switch back to the Sprint network, and from what i can tell i think it uses more power. What i did the weekend when i needed it most was just swap the PRL and I was on verizon the entire time, the battery life seemed to be better.

Update on my battery life:
So today I unplugged my phone at 7:30am
Used it for about 30 phone calls ranging from 2-30 minutes
A lot of texting
and a light browsing

I just plugged it back in at 12 midnight and the battery was down to 29%

I'm very happy with this, i dont feel the need to carry the car charger. As long as the phone lasts an entire day I will keep it.
