RECEIVED: OTA update to 4.4 KitKat, build KRT16S

I didn't get it yet either. I tried with my VPN so it looks like I'm in the U.S. but that didn't help. I suppose I could try side-loading...

Im still waiting in Vegas.... I was going to side load, but I was rooted, installed the AOSP browser.... then forgot I did that, unrooted, and relocked bootloader, now it fails when sideloading because of /System/Browser files that arent supposed to be there.....

Ill have to wait for the OTA because I dont feel like re-rooting, just to remove them.....

On 11/14 I sideloaded the 4.4 update to build KRT160 and posted sideloading tips in this thread:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...-how-newb-successfully-sideloaded-kitkat.html

I just saw the article on Android Central about Google pushing a 4.4 bugfix to build KRT16S, and giving a download link for those who want to sideload it.

I was just about to get started doing that, but when I turned on my N7 it said that an update was ready to install, and I got the update to build KRT16S OTA.

It seems that others have now gotten the OTA update to KitKat (I'm not sure which build) and have posted about it in the thread titled, " It's been 2 days and it seems no one has received the OTA update." It seems more appropriate to start a new thread about GETTING the OTA update.

FYI I got the OTA upgrade from stock 4.3 to 4.4 today and it included this update.

I received the 4.4 KRT16S update BUT---
None of the new display look shows up. Still no transparent bars on top or bottom, no redesigned app logos, no dedicated NOW page, etc.
In other words there has been no change from 4.3 other than "Print" being available in settings and the Build Number and Android version being new. I've powered off then back on again but nothing.
Anyone know if there's another step I need to perform to complete the update?

Turns out that the transparent bar and app drawer along with the NOW page are all part of the Google Experience Launcher. Google has not released GEL for anything but the nexus 5 that I know of. So you won't be seeing any of those I improvements until Google releases GEL to the nexus 7. Thankfully Kitkat has more to offer than just that, though it seems like the aesthetics are almost the same as Jelly Bean

You have to side load the Google Experience Launcher to get those features. I forget where I found the link to do that, Google it. I have it and so far I'm not impressed. Still playing around with it.

Thanks. Just "assumed" this was all part of stock 4.4

I started a thread on the nexus 7 2012 forum to get feedback, not many hits. I don't like it so far but you might. If you load it you can easily toggle between it and the stock launcher so don't worry about trying it. I'd like to hear other reactions before I ditch it and stay on the stock launcher.
