Recent button and push notifications stopped working

[AC Question]

Hi all, I've had my S6 for around 18 months now. This morning my recent application button has stopped working (despite it lighting up and giving the vibrating feedback) and I am receiving no notifications at the top of my screen. Strangely I also cannot use the 2 fingers swipe from the top of the screen to access the full quick list of menu options either. I have checked all settings, binned all cache, soft reboot etc and I am baffled! Help please!
