Has anyone ordered and received a Just Black 128GB Pixel 2XL from Google with a build date later than October 2017? I've ordered 3 XLs since March and am amazed that they are still shipping out 7-9 month old stock. They've all exhibited significant blue tint issues and just want to know if the 2018 builds have improved.

Please don't respond if you've ordered 128GB Panda or Verizon versions or the smaller 2 variants. I'm interested if Google has stopped production of the high-capacity unlocked Google editions.

I am on my third smaller Pixel 2, I ordered at the end of March, first two had touch response issues and both were built September 2017 so it doesn't surprise me that you are getting stock from last fall. They are probably trying to use up all the stock they can at this point.

This one I'm typing on is the third one and it was built in February 2018 and is much better.

Thanks but I'm asking about the Pixel 2XLs. The standard 2s are more popular so i would expect more production runs. In the same vein, VZW variants for both models would also have more produciton runs given that most Pixels are sold through the VZW stores.

You better take this back because according to people here there is no such thing as display issues. 😂😂

The funny thing is that the last Pixel 2XL i checked out at the VZW store had no blue tint issues whatsoever so it's probable that they tightened up some QC but it's just amazing that Google is still shipping out 5-7 month old 128GB Black 2XLs through their store (which is what I want). It really does seem they stopped producing this particular variant and are just clearing out old stock.

My Pixel 2 XL has no display issues. It was manufactured on September 29, 2017.

My "Just Black" Pixel 2 XL 128 was manufactured on October 18, 2017.
I have no display issues and love this phone.

To get back on topic, has anyone recently ordered a Just Black 128GB 2XL Google edition with a build date after October 2017?

I just received a Just Black Pixel 2 XL. Manufactured at the end of January. No blue screen, no speaker rattle. Only took 6 exchanges....

Was this a 128GB Google Edition model?

Hi,

Just ordered unlocked black & white 128 gig with manufactured date of April 2018 - thought the blue tint would be fixed, but no luck. I'm thinking about sending it back but will take a few more days days to make up my mind. The phone seems to work great except for the blue tint when you lay it down, turn it to the right or left quickly. I'm not that bothered by the tint since the quality of the screen seems better than my older iphone. Good luck!

Still the same screen and manufacturer don't think that will change until Pixel 3

I also just today unboxed a new b&w 128g XL with April 2018 build and the blue shift indeed lives on. I wrote a separate post about it. Thinking about sending it back but like you I think I'll take a few days to decide. I like everything else about the phone so far, but find it frustrating that it seems to be luck of the draw, even with newer builds. Sorry I know this thread is supposed to only be about the all black version, but feels worth reporting that the b&w model still has this problem.

Build date doesn't tell you when the screen was made.
All OLED panels have color shift but they aren't usually blue. I've seen slight red or green on different panels.
My Pixel 2XL had a slight blue shift at angles that I wouldn't normally use but now the blue shift is almost gone. The shift is mostly a darker version of normal.

My s8+ had a red tint to it but wasn't bothersome but my s9+ totally different panel no blue, red, green or whatever lol same thing with iPhone X no issue
