I have used Vortex and I quite like it.
I'm coming from the Incredible, and for my money nothing from the Droid X's generation can touch what a good rooted Sense 3.5 Incredible can do. I shattered the front display on my incredible, so now I've been on the X for about a week. Only the release of the HTC Rezound would've made me change otherwise.

I only include the above info about my situation because I'm used to an eye-catching phone experience. I like to be wowwed with widgets and features. Not many ROMs for the X do that. One that really has me kind of excited right now though is Simply Stunning. I'm using it as my daily, and I find fun little things that it can do all the time. Give it a shot!

I've been using CM7-GB for the past month or so, and I'm happy with it. The latest release (Nov 5) seems to be giving me great battery life, and the camera crashes that I had with prior builds are all gone.

Since the last commit from cvpcs was Aug 22 I've been thinking that CM7 was all but abandoned on the X. Now I see this and am encouraged. I'm going to try this one next.

I tried Sensei the last few days but I'm not seeing any crazy improvement in battery stats. I'm at 60% after 7 hours, but I've hardly used it today. I prefer the interface of Liberty 3.0 or Vortex. Probably going back to Liberty

Ok, I've had a good 3 weeks on CM7 GB and it is night and day better.
The only complaint I have is the video camera is still too unreliable to be usable, and the compass doesn't work (or I can't find where to calibrate it) Apps such as Yelp's monocle, or Google sky are unusable without a working compass.
Everything else is stable enough, and now with news about Carrier IQ I'm glad I'm on an AOSP ROM such as CyanogenMod. Although I would breath a better sigh of relief if the bootloader and kernel were also open.

Google Sky works fine for me, and I've never noticed any problems with the compass.

Not sure if there is a stock way to calibrate the compass. I do it via the GPS Status & Toolbox app (menu > tools).

Have to agree that the video camera is not great, but I don't use it very often, so it's not a concern for me :)
