Hey all! What's the best back up method you use on these phones? Anything similar to the iCloud method on the iPhones?

Google for contacts and calendar.
And of course Samsung smart switch for a complete encrypted system image backup to my pc

I use Google cloud services for just about everything. Google Photos for all my pics, Google Drive for my docs and custom ring tones, Google Keep for my personal notes yada yada. I switch up devices quite a bit, so I don't like to be tied to a manufacturer's app for things that are important.

Samsung Cloud is more or less analogous to iCloud. I've used that in the past when factory resetting my phone and restoring data.

Here's a feature that seems somewhat hidden. If you go to "My Files," you can actually use your Samsung Cloud for mounted storage, i.e. you can store files in a cloud-based file system that counts against your Samsung Cloud storage. I've found it helpful in cases where I want to move photo albums to the cloud to save storage space. Not so much of an issue now that I have a 256 GB SD card, but cool nonetheless.

I forgot also to mention Google photos , I have actually copied all my paper photos onto Google just in case any thing ever happens to my house

Have you used the Google Photo Scan app? It's great for taking paper pictures and making them digital.

Wasn't aware of that thanks , did it the hard way just taking pics trying not to get glare from the glossy ones

So I'm not using Google photos and I'm currently using Samsung notes/calendar as well.

Will tje Samsung smart switch backup do like a complete backup to restore later?

If I were to exchange the phone for example, will that restore all my apps the way it is currently alligned and what not?

Samsung Smart Switch works for me. I backup to pc using it. For the N8 I used SSW phone to phone using old USB cable and included USB C adaptor. Check your phone after transfer. It may miss an odd app.

Buyer beware - I trusted Android Central and iDrive.... basically threw away $19.99.

Lifetime Subscription is actually lifetime of the device and the options you have (especially on an iPhone) are very limited (contacts, photos & video). How do you even call that a backup???

Stay away from iDrive!

Lifetime of the device? Wow, that's a joke. Sorry you got hosed on that purchase.

I use OneDrive as my primary backup. I pickup the Office 365 Home subscription on Amazon or eBay. Usually pay about $55-85 for it. 5 users that each get full Office 365 suite plus 1TB of storage for 1 year. Split 5 ways that's $17 or less each.
